Undoubtedly, the Culling Game arc has also seen the biggest clash in the entire story unfold and that is the one that saw Sukuna and Gojo on opposite ends. Gojo versus Sukuna was a fight that fans had been desperately waiting to see over the years and, in the Culling Game arc, they finally got a chance to enjoy this fight to the very best.
Of course, the conclusion of the fight wasn't something that fans would ideally like, given that it wasn't written all that well and, at the same time, it was also saddening. Essentially, Gojo ended up losing his fight against Sukuna and lost his life in the process as well. While Sukuna certainly was strong, Gojo could potentially have lost the battle on purpose which, while weird, does make a lot of sense once one looks deeper into things.
Gojo's Defeat To Sukuna
Gojo and Sukuna engaged in an intense battle that remained remarkably balanced throughout. While Gojo seized control on numerous occasions, Sukuna also had moments of dominance. Despite facing several disadvantages, including battling his own student and contending with two cursed techniques simultaneously, Gojo consistently maintained the upper hand for the majority of the fight. His confrontation involved not only Sukuna but also additional challenges, such as Sukuna employing Mahoraga and other merged creatures like Agito, making it a formidable struggle for Gojo.
Despite the odds, Gojo persevered and unleashed his full power, utilizing the ultimate Hollow Purple technique to overpower Sukuna, instilling fear in the ancient entity for the first time in a millennium. Gojo's mastery of the technique nearly defeated Sukuna entirely. However, to the surprise of many fans, the subsequent chapter depicted Gojo lying on the ground, bisected, revealing Sukuna as the unexpected victor. This twist left fans in disbelief, as it contradicted the earlier portrayal of Gojo's impending triumph, and the explanation provided for this abrupt turn of events raised further questions and doubts.
Why Gojo Losing To Sukuna Doesn't Make Sense

While this notion might seem unconventional, it holds a certain logic. Notably, Gojo's inability to perceive Sukuna's most potent attack was the primary cause of his defeat. Why Gojo Could've Lost To Sukuna On Purpose
