Demon Slayer's Ongoing Manga

Demon Slayer, based on Koyoharu Gotogue's manga, began its third season on April 9, 2023. The latest episode of the popular Shnen series began with an hour-long special introducing the new location and demon threats of the following arc. This special was also edited alongside the previous "Entertainment District" arc's final two chapters and released theatrically as Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba - To The Swordsmith Village.

American voice actor Zach Aguilar will reprise his role as series protagonist Tanjiro Kamado, while Abby Trott will reprise her part as the protagonist's sister, Nezuko Kamado. Although these characters play subsidiary roles in the season, Aleks Le and Bryce Papenbrook will return as Zenitsu Agatsuma and Inosuke Hashibira, respectively. Griffin Burns will play The Mist Hashira, Muicihiro Tokito, Kira Buckland will voice The Love Hashira, Mitsuri Kanroji, and Zeno Robinson will provide vocals for Genya Shinazugawa – all of whom had brief appearances as the same characters in the first season. Finally, Christopher Corey Smith will make his debut as the demon Hantengu, while Brent Mukai will play another demon named Gyokko.

Demon Slayer's "Swordsmith Village" arc follows Tanjiro Kamado as he journeys to the titular village to get a new Nichirin sword. However, he, his sister and fellow Demon Slayer Genya are forced to fight against a dangerous threat from Muzan Kibutsuji's Twelve Kizuki. The Mist and Love Hashiras also battle against another member of Kibutsuji's elite demon army.

Demon Slayer's Anime Garnered Criticism From Fans

The third season's Japanese release, which was simulcast with English subtitles, was favorably received by fans. However, some fans have attacked the anime, with the contentious use of GCI sparking controversy and the sexualized representation of Nezuko leading others to question the narrative. Despite this, fans of the successful franchise have praised the latest installment's animation and action.

The first episode of Demon Slayer's third season English dub will be available on Crunchyroll on May 28, 2023. Demon Slayer's manga is now available on MangaMonster. In addition, Episode 8 of the Japanese simulcast will arrive the same day.
