Fans better take caution lest they fall under Chainsaw Man’s Makima’s alluring gaze.
Set against a black background, fan artist by the Twitter handle @/suzuno_woto illustrated Makima in her taking a photograph pose, highlighting her multi-ringed eyes. The fan artist used a yellow color scheme to draw Makima, giving off the impression that she’s from an older era. Two transparent chains surround her, foreshadowing Makima’s true identity. While simplistic, the fan artist has perfectly captured the qualities that make Makima a dangerous character.
The Artist’s Process for Drawing Makima
The fan artist also posted an illustration process video showing how they started with a draft outline of Makima’s eyes and body first. They then outlined the illustration in black ink before starting on the various shadowing and contouring, cleaning the artwork up in the process. After doing so, the fan artist starts coloring, beginning with a slightly darker color palette before fine-tuning all the details to create the final piece.
In Chainsaw Man, Makima is one of the first Devil Hunters Denji ever meets and is the first person to show him care and attention, resulting in him falling in love with her. On the outside, Makima appeared to be gentle, self-assured and relaxed. At the same time, she evoked a rather unsettling aura, making people either love or fear her. Knowing that Denji has feelings for her, Makima purposefully tasked him with hunting down the extremely powerful Gun Devil, offering to give him whatever he wants if he does.
