One of the most exciting parts of going into a new entry of JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure is the anticipation of seeing what new stands and colorful characters await fans. And perhaps the best thing about it is meeting the new protagonist and member of the Joestar family.

In Part Four, Diamond is Unbreakable, fans are introduced to Josuke Higashikata, the illegitimate son of Joseph Joestar, a former Battle Tendency protagonist. Josuke is a kind and friendly high school boy, inheriting some of the traits from his ancestor, Jonathan, and this comes in more ways than one. Josuke possesses the powerful Stand Crazy Diamond, a simple power on the surface but with the Joestar wit, incredibly versatile.

Crazy Diamond is characterized by his mostly pink body and silver plates of armor while retaining blue eyes very similar to Josuke’s. Crazy Diamond is a tall and muscular stand akin to Jotaro’s iconic Star Platinum. As a Joestar Stand, Crazy Diamond fits into the Power Type category, where most well-known stands from JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure reside. But what makes Crazy Diamond distinct is his secondary ability.

A Powerful Stand with a Twist

As seen when he first fights Jotaro’s Star Platinum for a brief moment, Crazy Diamond is a strong Power Type with the ability to deliver potent punches at blinding speeds. Jotaro mentions his power level is close to his Star Platinum, which would make Josuke’s Stand one of the strongest close-range fighters in the series. Crazy Diamond can knock out opponents with a single strike, using his Stand Rush to finish deadly foes. Crazy Diamond can easily destroy concrete and vehicles, and this is where his secondary power comes in.

As in some sort of family inheritance, Crazy Diamond is capable of healing other people of any wound. This might be a key ability he inherits from Jonathan Joestar, as Hamon is sometimes used for healing, and in the anime, Crazy Diamond’s healing is portrayed with a yellow glow just like Jonathan’s Hamon. But Josuke, as usual for a Joestar, always finds creative ways to employ his ability.

Destroy & Rebuild

Josuke’s Crazy Diamond is not just able to heal people but also rebuild objects and even body parts. In the blink of an eye, Josuke can simultaneously hurt someone, destroy an object, heal that person, and then reconstruct the object at once. He employs this ability to either paralyze an enemy or save someone’s life. Crazy Diamond can destroy a vehicle Josuke is using, making Josuke and the parts fly through the air and then reassemble the vehicle as new to continue moving.

He can utilize this ability to reshape an object or even someone to Josuke’s liking and needs depending on the situation, and this is what gives Crazy Diamond his edge in battle, and makes him incredibly versatile. Jotaro’s Star Platinum relied on his extreme strength and Jotaro’s wits to win battles. But Josuke is much more dexterous with his Stand, as attacking with Crazy Diamond isn’t just for pure physical damage, but also for strategic reconstruction.

Another small yet key aspect of Crazy Diamond’s ability is that whenever he reconstructs a broken object, the pieces all forcefully fly into place, allowing for expert control of space and their surroundings. Crazy Diamond’s reconstruction ability, combined with Josuke’s characteristic Joestar smarts, can easily always turn the tides in his favor. As often seen in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, a battle isn’t just about brute strength, but the Stand users outsmart each other at every turn.

With raw physical strength, healing, and strategic reconstruction, Crazy Diamond is a Stand befitted with all the traits to make a Joestar like Josuke Higashikata stand out as a powerful fighter.
