Chainsaw Man’s Inventor Criticizes Hell’s Paradise

Hell’s Paradise, the creator of The Chainsaw Man’s little sister, has a new recommendation for fans.

Because of its nudity and explicit content, the official English translation of Hell’s Paradise has been unavailable to read on the Shonen Jump app. Readers can, however, access it through Viz Media. Tatsuki Fujimoto’s “younger sister,” Koharu Nagayama, a 12-year-old girl in her third year of elementary school, found a way to read the manga and was so taken with it that she had to tell the rest of the world. “I recommend reading Jigokuraku [Hell’s Paradise] because it was interesting,” Nagayama tweeted.

Aside from Hell’s Paradise, Fujimoto’s “younger sister” has offered recommendations to her older brother’s legions of fans and provided day-to-day updates, such as what she ate for dinner. Nagayama, like her brother, enjoys movies and has recommended Jordan Peele’s Nope and Mark Mylod’s The Menu. She’s also recommended a BL one-shot called Boku Yori Sukoshi Taiy ni Chikai written by her brother’s assistant, tweeting, “It’s R-18, but it’s very good, so you should give it a read.” In fact, if fans didn’t know any better, they’d think Nagayama was Fujimoto himself, but the mangaka has maintained that he and Nagayama are two distinct people.

Fujimoto’s “Sister’s” Twitter Account Was Suspended Previously

For whatever reason, Fujimoto has chosen to use his “younger sister’s” Twitter account rather than his own. Unfortunately, his live-tweeting during the Chainsaw Man anime adaptation’s airing resulted in Twitter deleting his “sister’s” account “due to platform age restrictions.” Nagayama announced her return to Twitter on November 15, 2022, by tweeting that she ate persimmons and apples.

Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku, written and illustrated by Yuji Kaku, began serialization on Shnen Jump+ in January 2018 and will run until 2021. The series follows Gabimaru, the strongest ninja from Iwagakure, who, despite his desire to die, has never found someone powerful enough to kill him. Gabimaru meets Sagiri, a swordsman from the Yamada Asaemon family, who correctly deduces that he does not want to die. Gabimaru agrees to embark on a suicide mission to Shinsenkyo with a team of death row convicts in search of an elixir of life in order to reunite with his wife. The same studio that adapted Fujimoto’s Chainsaw Man has produced an anime adaptation of Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku.

Hell’s Paradise is available to read on Viz Media, while the side story Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku Special Edition: Forest of the Unexpected, released on April 8, is available on Viz Media and the Shonen Jump+ app.
