One Piece is in its Final Saga, and the story is moving quickly towards its conclusion. But there are still many characters who have yet to make any moves, and they are going to affect the overall story. Fans have been waiting to see these individuals in action for a long time.
There is a general belief that these characters will be involved in the story soon, and when they are, Oda will also reveal details about their past. It is plausible to assume that their past played a crucial role in shaping their present goals. With that in mind, here are One Piece characters whose past remains unknown.
8 Monkey D. Dragon
Leader of The Revolutionaries
Dragon is the leader of the Revolutionary Army, which makes him the most wanted criminal in the entire world. He is also the father of Monkey D. Luffy and the son of Monkey D. Garp.
Much about Dragon’s past remains a mystery, and fans have been dying to know more about his life. Presently, there is no information about Dragon’s powers, his wife, or his role in the Navy. A few details were revealed in Kuma’s flashback, but they are not nearly enough to fill the blank pages concerning Dragon’s past.
7 Joy Boy
A Legend
Joy Boy’s name has been mentioned several times in the story so far, but there is no information about his true identity. He was a key figure who was active during the Void Century. It is very likely that he was involved in the war against the 20 kingdoms that would go on to form the present-day World government.
Joy Boy seemed to be on good terms with the people of Fish-Man Island, in particular with Poseidon. Joy Boy even wrote an apology on the Poneglyph on the island for his inability to keep his promise. The Final Saga will shed some light on who he was and how he died.
6 Imu
The One Who Rules All
Imu is the occupant of the Empty Throne, which means they are the ruler of the whole world. According to Ivankov, Imu is a descendant of the Nerona family. It is one of the 20 founding families of the World Government, which means Imu is aware of everything that happened during the Void Century.
Ivankov also revealed that Imu might have undergone the immortality surgery which has allowed them to live for centuries. Imu’s power and other physical abilities remain a mystery, but they did show a glimpse of their power while attacking Cobra. Fans will be hoping that Oda reveals how Imu became the sovereign of the world and why their existence is kept a secret.
5 Crocodile
The Former Shichibukai
Crocodile was the first Shichibukai that Luffy fought in the series. He is an extremely clever individual, as evidenced by his plot to take over the kingdom of Alabasta without raising any suspicions. Crocodile is armed with the Suna Suna no Mi, a Logia-type Devil Fruit that allows him to control sand at will.
While it may seem that Crocodile has no secret, Ivankov did point out that he knew something about the Shichibukai. Ivankov used this information as leverage to prevent Crocodile from attacking Luffy or anyone else. Needless to say, it will be interesting to see how Crocodile managed to become a Shichibukai and what secrets his past holds.
4 Rocks D. Xebec
The Nemesis Of Celestial Dragons
Rocks D. Xebec was a legendary pirate who was active many decades prior to the current story. He was a ruthless individual who led the Rocks Pirates. He was an ambitious man, and he wanted to conquer the entire world and crown himself king.
Rocks’ last known location was God Valley, where he participated in an all-out war with the Roger Pirates, Marines, and Celestial Dragons. Considering he led a group full of notorious pirates, it is highly likely that Rocks was a strong individual. At the moment, it is unknown why Rocks attacked God Valley and why he was so interested in becoming the king of the world.
3 Blackbeard
Human With A Special Body
Blackbeard is considered by many to be the ultimate opponent of Luffy. For a long time, Blackbeard purposely lived in obscurity to avoid catching unwanted attention. He waited eagerly to find the Yami Yami no Mi, but Thatch got his hands on it first. So, Blackbeard decided to take action, and he murdered his fellow crewmate.
Blackbeard’s past still remains a mystery, and there are many aspects of his life that have yet to come to light. Hopefully, the Final Saga of One Piece will reveal why Blackbeard was so interested in the Yami Yami no Mi and how he was able to eat two Devil Fruits.
2 Akainu
The Fiery Fleet Admiral
Akainu is the current fleet admiral of the Marines, which means he has authority over every soldier. He follows Absolute Justice and ever since coming into power, he has ensured that other people do so as well. He is blessed with the power of the Magu Magu no Mi, which allows him to create and manipulate magma at will.
Presently, it is unclear why Akainu joined the Marines and why he firmly believes in Absolute Justice. It is highly likely that he will be involved in a massive war, so Oda will have to reveal his past soon.
1 Zunesha
Eternal Punishment
Zunesha may not be an eye-catching character, but there is no denying that it is crucial to the overall story of One Piece. At some point in the past, it was an aide to Joy Boy, and it probably participated in the war against the twenty nations.
Zunesha carries the Mokomo Dukedom on its back, and it roams the seas of the New World. For now, all fans know is that he is being punished for a crime that he committed centuries ago.
