  • Mimi Rogers portrays Honey Chandler, who has become a co-lead in the spin-off series, and will return for Bosch: Legacy season 3.

Bosch: Legacy was a huge success for Amazon Freevee when it debuted back in 2022, with the spin-off significantly expanding certain supporting characters from Prime Video’s Bosch into main co-leads alongside Titus Welliver’s ex LAPD cop turned private investigator, Harry Bosch. One of those characters is defense lawyer, Honey Chandler, who now investigates cases with Bosch, after the pair initially butted heads in the parent series.

It’s a different world for Harry Bosch since he left the LAPD at the end of the original Bosch series. He doesn’t have the shackles of the law on his back now, and has the freedom to do certain things differently as a private investigator. This enables him to work more closely with Honey Chandler, and they find they have a common goal in bringing down Carl Rogers, who hired a hitman to kill Chandler and Bosch’s daughter, Maddie, and now roams the streets of Los Angeles freely after a mistrial in the case against him. But this joint venture leads Bosch and Chandler down a very dark path that gets them into trouble they may not come back from.

Honey ‘Money’ Chandler was how she was known when she first appeared in the first ever season of the original Bosch series. She is smart and very ruthless, and LAPD detective, Harry Bosch, finds this out the hard way when facing a civil trial, after being sued by Rosa Flores, the widow of a man he killed in the line of duty a couple of years ago. Honey Chandler is the lawyer bringing the case against Bosch, and she will stop at nothing to get the desired result for her client. During the trial, Chandler gets personal with Bosch about his mother, who was a sex worker before she was murdered, leading to Bosch going into the foster care system. Chandler attacks his integrity and accuses him of murdering Flores as revenge for his mother’s murder, which remains unsolved.

The relationship between them softens over time, as his daughter, Maddie Bosch goes to work for her and Bosch starts to see how things work on the other side of the fence. Chandler also goes through some personal issues in the original show, that manifest into Bosch: Legacy season 1. In season 7 of Bosch, Chandler survives an attempt on her life by a hitman hired by Carl Rogers.

This event brings Bosch and Chandler closer, as Maddie was also involved in Rogers’ assassination plans, and Bosch: Legacy season 1 sees them go after the hedge fund crook, and Bosch crosses the line between legality and criminality when he blows up the pipeline used by Rogers to steal gas, forcing him to try and escape from his Russian enemies on a shipping container.

Honey Chandler stands by and watches as Rogers is murdered, and this boils over into Bosch: Legacy season 2, when the FBI investigate her links to Rogers’ murder, implicating Bosch in the process. This is where Bosch: Legacy really becomes the Bosch and Chandler show, as the former enemies join forces to clear themselves of any wrongdoing. Bosch also finally decides to officially work for Chandler, accepting the $1 payment for his expertise on the Lexi Parks murder case. This conveniently acts as a cover-up for why Bosch and Chandler are meeting up so often, as they touch base over the FBI investigation.

Chandler uses her expertise as a ferocious defense lawyer, to lure the FBI into a trap and put the case against her and Bosch on the back burner, though this could still come back to bite them in Bosch: Legacy season 3, with Agent William Barron trying to get Maurice ‘Mo’ Bassi to turn on Bosch and Chandler. The expert defense lawyer also gets the case thrown out against David Foster for Lexi Parks’ murder, and sets up an intriguing plot point moving forward, with her decision to run for District Attorney.

Who plays Chandler in Bosch: Legacy?

Mimi Rogers portrays the cunning defense lawyer, Honey Chandler in Bosch and Bosch: Legacy, and has seen her character grow from being a guest star to the co-lead in the spin-off series. Her character has been through so much and only an actress of a high caliber could portray this vast range of emotions.

Mimi Rogers is arguably most famous for being the ex-wife of Hollywood megastar, Tom Cruise. The marriage was brief, unlike her varied career in movies and television. Rogers has appeared in over fifty movies. Her big break came in Ridley Scott’s dark thriller, Someone To Watch over Me in 1987, and her career has gone on an upwards trajectory from that point onwards, starring in a string of hit movies.

Rogers’ role as Honey Chandler in the Bosch universe is arguably her best yet, and she is far from done with this exceptional character, as she will return to the role in Bosch: Legacy season 3, with more intriguing cases to get her teeth into, possibly as the District Attorney, putting her alliance with Harry Bosch in doubt.
