Superman Fan Art Imagines What The Rest of David Corenswet’s Suit Looks Like

Highlights

  • Superman fans are excited about David Corenswet’s suit reveal after the recent logo reveal, hoping for a fresh look at the iconic character.
  • The fan art envisioning the full Superman suit draws attention to Corenswet’s physique.
  • Fans believe the suit design will be crucial for the success of the film, with hopes that Gunn’s vision can revitalize Superman’s reputation.

While only a tiny glimpse of David Corenswet’s Superman suit for James Gunn’s upcoming reboot film has been made available to the public, one fan has taken to social media to share what they believe the whole ensemble could look like.

While Superman plot details are still largely under wraps, Gunn has been active on social media, giving fans measured looks at progress behind the scenes. Most recently, the DC Studios boss unveiled the official look at Superman’s iconic chest emblem covered in ice alongside confirmation that the previously named Superman: Legacy would now be called Superman after reviewing the old title at the point of the final draft.

With the sneak pick at the logo and Superman actor Corenswet looking more jacked in recent pics, fans are interested in guessing what the full suit could look like in the upcoming Superman film. Going off this impulse, Reddit user fbvisuals took to the site’s r/SupermanLegacy subreddit to post some stellar fan art showing off what they envision the full thing could look like. The post, titled “Fan-Art Manip: Truth, Justice, and the American Way,” features two versions of the fan art, with one showing Corenswet’s Superman in a blank greyscale space with the artist’s logo subtly placed at the bottom right, and the other adding an American flag to the blank background. The suit features a simple design in Superman’s iconic colors, complete with the red cape, with the standout feature being the well-detailed belt serving as a visual division between the top and bottom of the suit.

Probably because Gunn’s previous Superman suit updates were disappointing, fans have gotten excited following the logo reveal, and those interacting with fbvisuals’s Reddit post approve of the artist’s effective design. The work also bears a resemblance to Corenswet and even accounts for his recent exploits at the gym, a sacrifice that co-stars Edi Gathegi and María Gabriela de Faría have also been seen making in preparation for their roles as Mister Terrific and The Engineer, respectively. However, all that hard work won’t pay off as it should if the final design for Superman’s suit isn’t pleasing to fans. That would be a blow to the film and the new DCU, as Superman’s outfit alone has often been the core of DC’s identity in several projects.

Many fans and insiders hope that Gunn’s Superman can fix the titular character’s reputation, and the suit will play a big part in that. One interesting feature of the fan art is the belt, which tries to visually usurp the character’s iconic trunks in a similar vein to several official versions of the suit seen recently in multiple forms of media. The last live-action design rocked by Henry Cavill had a waist-level feature meant to accomplish the same thing but did little to further that end as it blended in with the rest of the similarly-colored suit. With the red belt and golden accents laid on a much brighter palette overall, this fan design does a good job of leaving the Snyder-era edge behind and using a little accessory to accomplish a lot. Fans will likely be satisfied if the official design is anything like this one.

With the right look and a solid rebooted story, Corenswet could be one of the best live-action versions of Superman fans have seen in a while. With over a year left before the film releases, fans have more time to throw ideas around about the final product.

Superman is currently set for theatrical release on July 11, 2025.
