The following contains spoilers for Chapter 4 of Naruto: Sasuke’s Story — The Uchiha and the Heavenly Stardust by Masashi Kishimoto, Jun Esaka, Shingo Kimura and Snir Aharon, now available in English from Viz Media.

In Naruto: Sasuke’s Story — The Uchiha and the Heavenly Stardust, the Uchiha Ranger has been hard at work in a Redaku prison trying to find a cure for Naruto’s illness. Sasuke believes the warden, Zansūru, is harboring dark secrets, especially due to the fact the sinister figure’s keeping a pet raptor, Menō, at his base. Sakura eventually arrives — undercover at the facility as a nurse — to let Sasuke know this sickness is tied to the Sage of the Six Paths.

As they unlock more clues, factoring in new info from Kakashi, Sasuke realizes he has to head out into town to do further investigations. However, he still thinks the compound holds key intel, as the person who found this observatory-turned-prison, Tataru, worked with the Sage in the past. Intriguingly, as Chapter 4 of Heavenly Stardust reveals, Sasuke’s journey turned into the franchise’s own remix of National Treasure.

Jon Turteltaub brought 2004’s National Treasure and 2007’s National Treasure: Book of Secrets to fans, focusing on Nicolas Cage’s Benjamin Gates. Ben came from a family of treasure hunters, using the Declaration of Independence in the first movie to go on an Indiana Jones-like adventure, and then use other clues linked to American presidents, assassins and the political history of the nation to find more relics.

His objectives were to protect his loved ones, keep the prizes away from villains, and safeguard the integrity of the country’s treasures. This story is now continuing in a TV series that’s on Disney+ called Edge of History, with fans also eagerly awaiting a third film with Ben and Co. Ultimately, folks just love tracking cryptic clues with Team Gates and how they piece together puzzles to create this rich, intellectual tapestry and overall guessing game.

In the Naruto-verse, Sasuke has to find cosmic dust he thinks will cure Naruto, the same way it did the Sage centuries before. It leads to him and Sakura finagling their way into the prison’s library where they find the book known as “The Map to the Heavens,” which they think Tataru and the Sage worked on. In time, Sasuke finds hidden codes in the book via paintings they believe the Sage created, depicting signs of the zodiac.

Sasuke links the constellations to Konoha’s art style, the cards that Sakura used in a gambling session to get clues to the library, and also, clues suggesting the Sage did leave details on the dust back in the Hidden Leaf. The heroes are left unscrambling the images and forming a treasure map of their own; they soon realize they need to scour not just Redaku, but Konoha as well.

Heavenly Stardust has Sasuke coming off like Ben in National Treasure, with Sakura adopting the mold of Ben’s beloved, Diane Kruger’s Dr. Abigail Chase. Chapter 4 ends with a haunting note for them to meet a mysterious figure the next day, once more nodding to how Team Gates kept getting contacted by folks whose loyalties they were unsure of. This fuels the mystery even more, leaving readers hopeful they can crack the case and get the treasure that’ll save the Hokage’s life.
