Stranger Things Millie Bobby Brown revealed her reaction to the season 5 ending, and fans think she hinted that her beloved character, Eleven, will not survive.
Stranger Things season 4 was dropped on May 27, 2022, so it has been two years since fans waited for the next one. The production for season 5, the final season, has already begun, and many are already looking forward to watching how the story will end between the residents of the fictional rural town of Hawkins, Indiana, and the beings from the Upside Down. Brown, who plays Eleven, a teen girl with telepathic and psychokinetic abilities, seemingly hinted about her character’s sad ending in the hit series.
Brown appeared on Capital Breakfast, and host Sian Welby asked her if Stranger Things season 5 would be the last, which the actress confirmed by saying, “Yes.” Welby asked her if the final season was “quite emotional” before telling the actress they knew she couldn’t tell them about the characters’ ending, but they wanted to know how she felt when she read the scripts. Brown said that while she didn’t know the ending, she already knew what would happen to her character. The Damsel actress admitted she “forced” herself into the writers’ room. According to Brown, she messaged the director and asked them if she could come over and meet with them, and she saw the whiteboard. When asked if she wrote her own ending, Brown said, “No, I just saw my ending and thought, ohhhhh.”
Brown said she walked slowly when she saw her character’s ending. She wasn’t sure if they wanted her to see the whiteboard, but she believed they knew she could see it if she came over. One of the hosts told the celebrity, “Millie, they’re throwing you off, Millie.” The actress seemingly agreed with the speculation, telling them, “Maybe. Honestly? Maybe.”
While Brown didn’t directly say that her character would die, many think it was the case, considering her reaction. The Enola Holmes star was seemingly surprised as she exclaimed, “Ohhhh,” and she seemed disheartened because she left the room “slowly.” Several fans felt her reaction was not a good sign of Eleven’s fate in the series. Although many hope she will live, some viewers also expressed concern about their favorite Stranger Things character. Some expressed fear, and a few didn’t expect a happy ending. Eleven may be one of the most likely Stranger Things characters to die in the final season or get stuck in the Upside Down.
Eleven won the hearts of the Stranger Things fans because she is relatable. Fans witnessed how she met her new friends — Lucas Sinclair (Caleb McLaughlin), Mike Wheeler (Finn Wolfhard), and Dustin Henderson (Gaten Matarazzo) — who named her Eleven after she ran away from a social worker following her escape from the Hawkins National Laboratory, and how she fell in love with Mike and found a sense of self while using her powers to stand up against bullies and monsters. Eleven is a bold but compassionate character. She is also often the one who makes the difficult decision but saves the day. Overall, she’s a fully developed character whose journey has been witnessed, followed, and loved by Stranger Things fans. That’s why she has become a fan-favorite, and many are invested in her, and all of them want a happy ending for her.
