Jujutsu Kaisen is currently in one of its most intense phases, as fans are getting to witness the amazing battle between Maki and Sukuna, which has set the series alight. The last few chapters of the story have been quite exciting for the fans, given that they are continuously getting one fight after another, with Sukuna pushing himself to his limits.

Recently, his fight against Yuta and Yuji wrapped up, and he was declared the winner. However, before that fight ended, Maki struck and, currently he’s dealing against a sorcerer who might actually have gone on to surpass Toji Fushiguro already. While Maki is making great progress on her own, she will most likely be joined by Yuji in this battle later down the line, and together, these two might very well put an end to Sukuna.

Sukuna’s Current Power Level

Maki and Yuji could be the key to defeating Sukuna. However, fans would do well to keep in mind that, under normal circumstances, these two cannot defeat Sukuna, no matter what. They are incredibly powerful, and that goes without saying. However, Sukuna, normally, is way too powerful for them to take on. The fact is that Sukuna is currently weakened quite a lot. During his fight against Gojo, Sukuna was weakened to the point where he could not even utilize reverse cursed technique properly. At the same time, he was stripped of his ability to utilize domain expansion, and, more importantly, his cursed energy output was reduced quite a lot as well. Even after he reincarnated, Sukuna was still quite weak compared to his original self, and this weakness only grew with time. The more he fought, the weaker he got, and of course, the blows that Yuji landed on him, certainly weakened him as they hit his soul directly, which meant that his cursed energy output dropped quite a bit, and his control over Megumi lessened the more the fight dragged on.

Currently, Maki holds enough power in her to match the likes of Sukuna all by herself, and fans did get to see a proper glimpse of that in the previous chapter. This just goes to show how much weaker Sukuna is right now, and that is exactly what the key to beating the King of Curses is. All the damage that he has taken so far has taken a toll on him, and now, the chance to take him down, once and for all, is right in front of the sorcerers.

Yuji And Maki’s Soul Damaging Powers

Yuji and Maki are most certainly going to be the ones to fight Sukuna and take him down here. As fans know already, Maki is currently fighting against Sukuna, and it is going to be her who deals some deadly damage to him, before Yuji can rejoin the battle and finish him off for good. Maki is already doing incredibly well against him. In the previous chapter, fans got to see her utilize the powers of her split soul katana, and, using this blade, deal soul damage to Sukuna.

The author made it quite clear that with the split soul Katana, the user can actually deal deadly damage to the soul. One cannot heal from the damage inflicted by this sword under normal circumstances. To be able to heal this damage, one needs to be able to see the outline of their soul. Sukuna can do that, however, his fight against Gojo means that he cannot utilize reverse cursed technique properly. That is precisely why he cannot heal as well as he would have liked to. This means his biggest weakness right now is soul damage, and that can only come from two individuals, Maki, and Yuji.

Maki is already dealing some tremendous damage to Sukuna. With each blow that he receives to the soul, his cursed energy output drops, as does his control over Megumi’s body. He gets much weaker the more he is hit, and that is what his biggest weakness is. Curiously, Yuji also possesses the powers to head the soul directly. He has always had this ability, and against Sukuna, this is one of the key powers that will come in handy in defeating the King of Curses. Yuji has already proven himself to be powerful enough to weaken Sukuna quite a lot when he teamed up with Yuta. Now, he will most certainly team up with Maki, and, together, these two will weaken Sukuna quite a bit.

In the previous chapter of JJK, fans saw Yuji attempt to rejoin the battle after he started healing himself once again. Although he did struggle in trying to heal himself properly, eventually, Yuji figured out how to do it and, thanks to help from Choso, he was able to push himself even more, and heal at a rapid rate. Yuji looks all set to join the battle against Sukuna once again, and he will most certainly do so. Once that happens, then this duo that can hurt his soul will team up, which means that every attack he takes is going to do deadly damage to him.

Sukuna’s Eventual Defeat

Sukuna’s eventual defeat in the Culling Game arc is coming, and the key to it lies in damaging his soul. That is why the duo of Maki and Yuji is incredibly important, and these two characters will certainly team up to hurt him to a point where his cursed energy output, efficiency, and overall ability drops even further. Given that Yuji is the main character, fans should expect him to be the one to fight Sukuna at the end, and also deliver the killing blow. That is likely what is going to happen in this fight towards the end, and fans are incredibly excited to see that happen. Maki will most likely be injured by Sukuna at some point, which means that Yuji will have to handle things all by himself. This would make sense, given that Sukuna is the ultimate antagonist of the series, and Yuji is the beloved protagonist.

At the same time, if Yuji is to reach the next level, he has to defeat Sukuna and, given that Sukuna is in a weakened state, and will be in an even weaker state when the time to finish him off comes, Yuji certainly won’t be able to pull this off. It is only a matter of time until Sukuna falls, and when that happens to him, JJK will take one step closer to its eventual end. As has been mentioned by the author already, the manga will wrap up at some point later this year, which means that the fight with Sukuna is not going to last for too long.

Thankfully, the pathway to defeating him is now clear, and once Yuji and Maki damage his soul enough, and then Yuji goes on to defeat him, Megumi will most likely be saved. When that happens, then all they need to do is to let Megumi make a decision on the Culling Game. From there onwards, the deadly Culling Game that has been going on for quite a while now will end. With that, JJK can truly take a step towards the end, and then deliver a proper conclusion to the remaining plot points, and conclude the story for good.

Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of JJK, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 253, is set to be March 10, 2024.
