One Piece volume 107 is officially out and with it comes the incredible SBS corner written by Oda himself where, as always, he answers the questions of the fans in the most interesting of ways. Most of the time, the SBS corners are filled with jokes that Oda makes with his loyal fans. However, quite a few times, some very interesting details have been either revealed or hinted at in these SBS corners.

One very interesting detail that Oda revealed in One Piece SBS volume 107 was a particular fight that took place in the New World not that long ago between the Kid Pirates and the Red Hair Pirates.
Kid Vs Shanks
When Kid was first introduced in One Piece and it was established that he was going to be an important pirate, a lot of the fans drew connections to him and Shanks. There were many theories floating around and it did not take fans long to figure out that these two characters either have some sort of history or will trade blows at some point in the future simply because they had quite a lot of similarities. For instance, both Kid and Shanks are redheads and this hair color isn’t all that common in One Piece, especially among the main pirates. At the same time, their similarities only kept mounting ever since.
Kid received a facial scar and fans know that Shanks has a very prominent facial scar as well. Shanks is without his arm and Kid, after the timeskip, was seen without his arm as well. Curiously enough, this arm was later revealed to have been lost during the fight he had against the Red Hair Pirates. Of course, The vast majority of the fans believed that Shanks was the one who took his arm, at least prior to the Final Saga. Kid himself made it sound like it was Shanks who did it at first.
When he was in Udon Prison in Wano, Kid made it sound like he fought fiercely against the Red Hair Pirates and ended up sacrificing an arm while he was engaged in combat. The truth appears to be far from that. Kid never fought Shanks when these pirate crews came face to face for the very first time and that is now clear after One Piece SBS volume 107.
How Ben Beckman Cut Off Kid’s Arm
In the Final Saga of One Piece, Kid and his Kid Pirates were heading towards Elbaf, the land of warriors. Before they could set foot on the island, they were confronted by the fleet of the Emperor, Red-Haired Shanks. Of course, Shanks did not want any harm to come to his friends and he decided to face Kid. When Kid decided to open fire at Shanks’s fleet, much of which is believed to be very weak, the Yonko decided to go to war with Kid. The Red Hair Pirates, in particular, commented on how Kid is lashing out and appears to be very angry. At that point, it was made clear that his anger was actually directed towards Ben Beckman.

However, it wasn’t explicitly stated that Beckman was the one who took his arm here. Regardless, it was quite clear that Kid and Beckman had some sort of history and that perhaps, the person who took Kid’s arm was none other than Ben Beckman himself. Naturally, a fan asked Oda about this in the SBS corner and Oda answered. According to him, it was indeed Ben Beckman who took Kid’s arm when they fought previously. This has huge implications in the story, given that it highlights the fact that Kid did not even get to Shanks when they fought previously in the first place. He was destroyed by his underling and had to pay a huge price for absolutely nothing.
It is unclear how Ben Beckman took his arm. One would assume that Kid attacked the flagship of the Red Hair Pirates, the Red Force, and before the captain could even touch him, Beckman sliced his arm off. The Kid Pirates then likely retreated and tended to his injuries. Unfortunately, it is very likely that fans will never get to see what exactly happened on that day. This is because Kid is simply not that important of a character and, even though Shanks is and fans will likely see his past, his encounter with Kid is nothing significant at all.
As such, the clash where Beckman took his arm will likely not be shown in the future.
Regardless, fans at least have confirmation that Kid and Ben Beckman fought at some point in the past and it ended badly for Captain Kid, since he ended up losing his arm. To his credit, however, Kid did end up growing significantly after this battle. He gained even higher bounties and, eventually, enough power to fight back against one of the Yonko as well. Kid awakened the power of his Devil Fruit and refined his Haki as well. Against Big Mom, he proved that he was strong enough to combat against a Yonko. However, Kid was still not as strong as Luffy, given that he required the help of Law to deal with Big Mom.
The Destruction Of The Heart Pirates
In the Final Saga of One Piece, Kid tested his luck once again against the Red Hair Pirates. Unfortunately for him, his luck was unchanged. When Kid approached the land of Elbaf, he decided to launch a powerful attack on Shanks’s fleet. When he attempted to do this, Shanks foresaw a very terrible future for his fellow allies, who are famously weak. To protect them, Shanks jumped into action immediately and launched a powerful attack towards Kid. This attack was so powerful that it completely devastated him.
Kid was utterly crushed and knocked out with a single swing of Shanks’s sword. At the same time, Kid’s right hand man, Killer, also suffered from this same sort of attack and was taken down as well. Essentially, Shanks took down both Kid and Killer in a single swing of his sword and this just goes to show how powerful he truly is. This the end of the Kid Pirates, at least for the foreseeable future. Both Kid and Killer were knocked out and crushed.
Their Poneglyphs were taken by Shanks, and the rest of the crew begged for mercy. The Giants, who are Shanks’s allies, decided to follow up and launched an incredibly powerful attack on Kid and his pirate crew, crushing their flagship, the Victoria Punk, in the process. Kid and his ship were sent to the bottom of the ocean and their fate remains unknown ever since. While they are likely not dead, they are already out of the race for the One Piece simply because they do not have any leads or any Poneglyphs anymore.
In the end, Kid did not just get his arm taken by Ben Beckman but he was also subsequently destroyed by the red-haired pirate captain himself.
