Sakura is a very important character in the Naruto franchise. Introduced as one of the members of Team 7, Sakura was always destined to be incredibly powerful, and at the same time, important to move the plot forward in interesting ways. She developed greatly over the years as a powerful ninja and by adulthood, even went on to surpass her teacher, Tsunade Senju.
Sakura is easily one of Konoha’s strongest ninjas at this point in time, and with all her qualities, she could easily be the perfect candidate for the position of Hokage.
Sakura’s Growth During The War

Sakura’s start to her journey as a ninja wasn’t all that great at the beginning of the series. She was weak and this was something that the story highlighted time and again. She needed protection quite often and even though her resolve was strong, she lacked the strength to back it up. However, much of that changed during the timeskip of the Naruto series. She gained tremendous strength, thanks to Tsunade and she put that strength into effect immediately after the start of the second half of Naruto in a brilliant manner. Sakura continued to develop greatly even after that and became a very powerful medical ninja who had nothing lacking when it comes to taking the offensive as well.

It wasn’t until the Fourth Great Ninja War that Sakura was truly able to blossom as a ninja. Due to all the healing that she did, Sakura was able to attain the same power as Tsunade, which was the Byakugou. With this power, she proved to everyone that she had attained immense chakra control, and at the same time, mastered medical ninjutsu in ways that one couldn’t even imagine. She was the perfect successor for Tsunade and she even caught up to Naruto and Sasuke, but, of course, that was before the two received even bigger power-ups in the war.
Nonetheless, she was strong enough to take on multiple Kage-level enemies, and even hold her own against Madara in his Ten Tails state. Sakura even contributed to taking down Kaguya, though her contribution was not as significant as that of Naruto and Sasuke. Clearly, she was a phenomenal ninja, and she continued to grow even after the war, which meant that Sakura’s level was far beyond that of even Tsunade.
Sakura As An Ideal Hokage Candidate
Sakura Is The Perfect Fit For Leading The Village Forward
In the years to come following the conclusion of the Ninja War, Sakura developed greatly. For one, fans know that she learned many incredible techniques after the war concluded. She perfected her medical ninjutsu even further, and on top of that, she also developed a resistance to genjutsu. She learned other nature transformations and simply improved herself as a ninja overall. She learned how to develop poison and sleeping gasses and utilized them in combat, which made her one of the most versatile ninjas to ever live.

If that wasn’t enough, then fans should also remember that Sakura was also able to learn more Nature Transformations, such as Fire Release, after the conclusion of the war, which balances her out as a ninja much more than even the likes of Tsunade. However, his reign was very short-lived and he died early. Tsunade is one of Konoha’s best Hokage, and there is absolutely no denying the fact. Given that Sakura possesses all the abilities that she possesses and is even better at just about everything, one can easily see why she would be the perfect Hokage candidate.
On top of that, fans also need to consider the fact that Sakura’s temperament is even better than that of Tsunade, and her maturity, along with just about everything else about her, is perfect for this position. In fact, Boruto himself considers her to be a perfect Hokage candidate.
Will Sakura Ever Become The Hokage?
Sakura’s Chances For Becoming The Hokage Are Still There
Right now, Konoha doesn’t have a permanent Hokage. After the sealing away of Naruto Uzumaki, Shikamaru became the temporary Hokage. He has not taken this position permanently, which means that an official Hokage has not been elected yet. Shikamaru also mentioned that he does not intend to take this position permanently, which means that there is room for someone else to take this position later down the line. Of course, Sakura would make a fine candidate. However, her responsibilities as the leader of the medical unit might prevent her from becoming the Hokage. That said, if it weren’t for that, Sakura would be the perfect Hokage for the village in just about every aspect.
She has the Will of Fire, and she has the strength to back it up, which makes her a perfect candidate for this position. At the same time, another reason why Sakura will not become the Hokage is the fact that the series is going to focus on the Next Generation. If anyone is going to become the Hokage after Shikamaru, it is likely going to be Konohamaru, who will be followed by Sarah Uchiha, Sakura’s very own daughter.
That’s not to say that Sakura wouldn’t make a fantastic Hokage. Fans know for a fact that she possesses tremendous abilities and that her temperament is just right for this position. She is wise, wisdomous, her strategic sense is great, and above all, she has the strength to protect the village as well. In a different timeline, Sakura would have made a perfect Hokage. However, it appears that her responsibilities will keep her from taking this position like her mentor, Tsunade Senju.
That said, Sakura doesn’t necessarily have to be the Hokage to be an asset to the Village. Sasuke Uchiha does not hold this position but is one of Konoha’s most important ninjas of all time. Sakura can serve the village the best she can and, above all, make the right decisions when required. She is still a phenomenal ninja who will go down in history as one of the greatest of all time, regardless of whether or not she will ever attain the position of Hokage. All things considered, fans know that Sakura is a Hokage-level individual despite all the constant downplaying from many Naruto fans.
