In Jujutsu Kaisen, Itadori and Fushiguro Acknowledge Their Differences
Itadori and Fushiguro have opposing philosophical reasons for becoming Jujutsu sorcerers and personal beliefs about saving others. The latter claims his reasons are selfish, believing he only saves those he deems worth saving. Fushiguro isn’t a righteous hero; he’s a Jujutsu sorcerer, so he won’t save anyone he believes may harm others in the future. Itadori, however, maintains the belief that all humans deserve a normal life and to die a meaningful death, regardless of previous or future actions. If someone is in trouble and it’s possible to save them, Itadori will try his best to do so.
While they have these opposing views, the pair acknowledge their differences and never disagree with the other’s philosophy. They evaluate the other’s life and understand why they came to the conclusion they did, respecting it even if it doesn’t align with their own.
In the Jujutsu Kaisen manga, Itadori even states that while Fushiguro’s outlook on Jujutsu is also right, it doesn’t mean his own is wrong. These two friends consistently seek to understand the other’s perspective, which makes them more empathetic, willing to listen and able to understand the people they care about.

Gojo Satoru and Geto Suguru Had Trouble Coming to Terms
The same understanding Itadori and Fushiguro mastered in such a small amount of time was something Geto and Gojo could never grasp. Gojo and Fushiguro have a similar philosophy, as do Itadori and Geto. However, Gojo is insensitive toward Geto when discussing why he saves people, even baiting him into arguments that he easily fell for. Despite being inseparable friends and the self-proclaimed strongest duo, there were clear moral differences between the two that caused them to butt heads.
Geto and Gojo also had an abundance of misconceptions about each other. The latter used the former as a moral compass, viewing his friend as the pinnacle of morality. Gojo failed to develop his own moral or ethical code, to the extent that he would have massacred a room full of innocent humans depending on Geto’s response. Meanwhile, Geto viewed Gojo as the strongest individually, which led to a sense of envy or resentment; if Geto was that powerful, his idea of the perfect society would suddenly be achievable.

The Communication Between Fushiguro and Itadori Distinguishes Them From Gojo and Geto
Itadori and Fushiguro’s communication will likely save them from the fate Gojo and Geto experienced. Fushiguro could tell Itadori had undergone something traumatic when he saw him alive again, and immediately brought it up to ensure he was okay. Although Itadori insisted nothing happened, it was a notable gesture for his friend to stay emotionally in touch when he saw him struggling.
This is what Gojo failed to do, and it led to Geto’s mental decline and inevitable execution. He noticed something was off, but couldn’t pinpoint what it was in the same way Fushiguro did with Itadori. This showed the extent that Geto and Gojo had drifted apart, as they weren’t as in tune like before. With Gojo relying on the other sorcerer for moral direction, it’s also possible that he doubted Geto could have moral struggles of his own, let alone lose a battle to them.
Never communicating, Geto and Gojo suffered from their own internal issues that were allowed to fester. Their idealizations and preconceptions about the other forced them into a codependent relationship, which led to their unraveling. However, Itadori and Fushiguro tackle their problems head-on with empathy and open arms, hoping to understand each other fully. They are close without being codependent, telling raw truths and being transparent. This Jujutsu Kaisen duo has a stronger foundation and the support system to survive whatever ordeals they undergo, pulling each other from any respective brinks and avoiding the tragedy of Geto and Gojo.
