However, top-billing goes to his symbiotic foe Venom, who’s making his presence felt in several sets. There are also special treats for nostalgic fans with callbacks to legendary moments of multimedia Marvel. Two new sets flashback to a classic part of MCU Phase 2. Another celebrates what many consider X-Men’s TV peak, as the 1990s incarnation of the mutant superteam returns on Disney Plus.

Marvel LEGO Sets With Venom

It is a strong LEGO Marvel line-up for the new year, set to appeal to older and younger Marvel fans. While the callbacks to Guardian of the Galaxy’s start in the MCU are welcome, the iconic X-Jet must be the highlight. Before they enter the MCU, the mutant superteam is riding a nostalgic wave with the return of its much-loved original series, X-Men 97.

Venomized characters have been popular in LEGO Marvel for some time. With Sony’s third Venom movie heading to cinemas later this year, the antihero’s popularity is evident in the venom-tinged sets aimed at younger builders. Venomising two classic Spidey-foes, Doc Ock and Green Goblin, is a great touch. It’s no wonder Spider-Man and Ghost Spider have unwrapped some impressive modes of transport.

Fans hurrying to add to their LEGO Marvel collection ahead of these arrivals can take advantage of an automatic 10% off and free domestic shipping over $79 on any in-stock merchandise from the items above at Entertainment Earth.

FAQs

Is X-Men 97 part of the MCU?

X-Men 97 is a rare revival that continues the story established by X-Men: The Animated Series, which ran from 1992 to 1997. It has direct continuity with that series, including returning voice actors. However, while it wouldn’t be airing on Disney Plus without the X-Men joining Marvel after Disney acquired Fox in 2019, it will not form part of the MCU.

Continuity fans will have to wait a bit longer to see the mutant team join the main universe. However, Professor X’s appearance in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness looked a lot like Xavier from the animated series.

What was the first Marvel LEGO set?

The first wave of Marvel Superhero LEGO arrived in 2012. that comprised Wolverine’s Chopper Showdown, inspired by the X-Men comics, and Spider-Man’s Doc Ock Ambush, inspired by Ultimate Spider-Man. Of course, it was a big year in the MCU, and those two were joined by four sets based on The Avengers. That was the first LEGO inspired by Marvel as we know it today, a series that has now passed 200 sets. However, LEGO had made kits based on Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy a decade before.
