Many villains in Japanese anime are exciting to watch on the small screen, and fans find these antagonists compelling in all sorts of ways. Those popular, intriguing villains might have slick charisma and clever dialogue, for example, or they may have a fascinating worldview or philosophy that fans might actually agree with.

Still, it wouldn’t be any fun to actually meet these popular villains in person, and not just because they tend to be dangerous. These villains would be incredibly obnoxious, annoying, creepy, or unsympathetic if anime fans somehow came face-to-face with them, so it’s a good thing these characters are entirely fictional.

10 Dio Brando (JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure)

10 Beloved Anime Villains <a href=Fans Would Hate In Real Life_0″ class=”lazyload” data-src=”https://static.animeranku.com/i/images/news/2023/7/5/10-beloved-anime-villains-fans-would-hate-in-real-life_0.png”/>

Dio Brando is a villainous vampire who made his debut early in JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, and he reached new heights in fame as the immortal vampire DIO during the Stardust Crusaders story arc. Fans love to make memes about DIO‘s Stand and dialogue, but he also has a terrible personality.

Dio Brando would never thank his real-life fans for admiring him or quoting him. He’s an insufferable wannabe king who speaks like “I, Dio,” and even his most devoted fans would soon tire of it. He would also feel entitled to attack his fans and suck their blood, given the chance.

9 L Lawliet (Death Note)

10 Beloved Anime Villains <a href=Fans Would Hate In Real Life_1″ class=”lazyload” data-src=”https://static.animeranku.com/i/images/news/2023/7/5/10-beloved-anime-villains-fans-would-hate-in-real-life_1.png”/>

Death Note fans absolutely love the eccentric genius detective known only as L, but meeting him face-to-face would be a real disappointment. Unlike some anime antagonists, L would not mock or harass his fans in real life, but he would also fail to make proper conversation with his admirers.

L may be on the side of justice and aims to protect innocent lives, but that doesn’t make him warm and charismatic. He is aloof, constantly preoccupied, and socially awkward, and he would pay little attention to any fans who greeted him, and fans would feel downright insulted.

8 Wrath (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood)

10 Beloved Anime Villains <a href=Fans Would Hate In Real Life_2″ class=”lazyload” data-src=”https://static.animeranku.com/i/images/news/2023/7/5/10-beloved-anime-villains-fans-would-hate-in-real-life_2.png”/>

The swordsman homunculus named Wrath passes himself off as human in many scenes in Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, but he is also intimidating and has an overwhelming presence. Any FMA fan who met Wrath would find him unnerving to talk to, and they’d have nothing to talk to him about, anyway.

Even if Wrath was outwardly polite, he would brush off any anime fan whom he encountered and resume his business as Amestris’ busy leader. If any fan got on his bad side, Wrath would slice them apart with his sabers without mercy.

7 Buggy The Clown (One Piece)

10 Beloved Anime Villains <a href=Fans Would Hate In Real Life_3″ class=”lazyload” data-src=”https://static.animeranku.com/i/images/news/2023/7/5/10-beloved-anime-villains-fans-would-hate-in-real-life_3.png”/>

Buggy the Clown is a minor One Piece villain who kept failing upward until he became one of the Four Emperors, a position no one ever expected him to have. Buggy amuses One Piece fans with his goofy personality and circus theme, but meeting him would not turn out well.

Buggy is obnoxious and self-centered, and he tends to blurt out insensitive or foolish things, too. He’s self-absorbed as a wannabe king of crime, and any One Piece fan wouldn’t be able to tolerate that in real life for very long.

6 Hisoka Morow (Hunter X Hunter)

10 Beloved Anime Villains <a href=Fans Would Hate In Real Life_4″ class=”lazyload” data-src=”https://static.animeranku.com/i/images/news/2023/7/5/10-beloved-anime-villains-fans-would-hate-in-real-life_4.png”/>

Hisoka Morow is a skilled Nen user who has become iconic in the Hunter x Hunter anime series, and fans have mixed feelings about him. Hisoka can be cool and even friendly in some scenes, but he is also notoriously creepy toward the young protagonist, Gon Freecss.

Hisoka, who seeks the ultimate challenge, wouldn’t waste any time on Hunter x Hunter fans who met him, and rudely brush them off. He would also give off seriously creepy vibes in such a meeting, which may discourage his fans from liking him any longer.

5 Daki (Demon Slayer)

10 Beloved Anime Villains <a href=Fans Would Hate In Real Life_5″ class=”lazyload” data-src=”https://static.animeranku.com/i/images/news/2023/7/5/10-beloved-anime-villains-fans-would-hate-in-real-life_5.png”/>

Many of Demon Slayer’s villains are already fan-favorites, such as the oddly sympathetic spider-themed Rui or the sinister brother/sister duo Daki and Gyutaro. Those two demons dominated the entertainment district arc, but meeting them for real would be a disaster.

Daki may be beautiful and powerful, but it all went to her head. Daki is a total himedere, or an arrogant wannabe princess, and she projects a cold and haughty air whether she’s in her human disguise or as her true self. The only person whom she loves is her brother, not her fans.

4 Grimmjow Jaegerjaques (Bleach)

10 Beloved Anime Villains <a href=Fans Would Hate In Real Life_6″ class=”lazyload” data-src=”https://static.animeranku.com/i/images/news/2023/7/5/10-beloved-anime-villains-fans-would-hate-in-real-life_6.png”/>

None of Bleach‘s villains would be much fun to meet in real life, since many of them are violent creatures who care only for themselves. This even includes cool and popular villains like Grimmjow, the 6th Espada, and later, a reluctant ally of Ichigo’s against the Sternritter.

Grimmjow is an aggressive and self-centered being who will rudely dismiss anyone who’s not strong enough to challenge him, and ordinary humans are beneath his notice. If he’s in a good mood, he’ll coldly brush his fans off, and in a bad mood, he might attack them.

3 Dabi (My Hero Academia)

10 Beloved Anime Villains <a href=Fans Would Hate In Real Life_7″ class=”lazyload” data-src=”https://static.animeranku.com/i/images/news/2023/7/5/10-beloved-anime-villains-fans-would-hate-in-real-life_7.png”/>

Many of My Hero Academia‘s antagonists, even the most popular ones, are dangerous and unstable people who are liable to attack anyone who looks at them funny, such as Stain the hero killer or the aggressive Tomura Shigaraki. This also includes Dabi, who is in no mood for idle chatter with his fans.

Dabi is single-mindedly focused on tearing down hero society and bringing his father Endeavor to ruin, and he’d impatiently brush off any fans who met him in real life. If pushed, he might even attack, especially if his admirers mentioned they like the heroes, too.

2 Seto Kaiba (Yu-Gi-Oh!)

10 Beloved Anime Villains <a href=Fans Would Hate In Real Life_8″ class=”lazyload” data-src=”https://static.animeranku.com/i/images/news/2023/7/5/10-beloved-anime-villains-fans-would-hate-in-real-life_8.png”/>

Over time in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime, the game-loving Seto Kaiba gradually softened and become more of an antihero, but many older anime fans remember him as an antagonist. Seto Kaiba is incredibly wealthy and runs the huge Kaiba Corps, and he dreams big.

Seto Kaiba is impressive and memorable, but he is also insufferable and infuriating to deal with in real life. Kaiba is totally self-absorbed and arrogant, and he has no time for third-rate duelists with fourth-rate decks, including Yu-Gi-Oh! fans who want to see Kaiba’s genius intellect up close.

1 Jessie (Pokémon)

10 Beloved Anime Villains <a href=Fans Would Hate In Real Life_9″ class=”lazyload” data-src=”https://static.animeranku.com/i/images/news/2023/7/5/10-beloved-anime-villains-fans-would-hate-in-real-life_9.png”/>

Jessie was introduced as a member of Team Rocket along with James and Meowth, and ever since then, she has been an iconic Pokémon villain with an oddly sympathetic side. Jessie had it rough growing up, and many of her desires and insecurities are highly relatable.

Even so, Jessie is not an easy person to get along with, and fans would realize that for themselves if they met her. Jessie is noted for her explosive temper in earlier Pokémon story arcs, and she is also insufferably vain and conceited, which no fan would put up with for long if they met Jessie for real.
