Jujutsu Kaisen is currently tackling the incredible fight between Maki and Sukuna, and fans are thoroughly enjoying this incredible clash, that sees these two powerful titans clash against one another. Sukuna has been fighting for the longest time in the Culling Game arc, and it looks like this incredible battle is all set to continue over the course of the next few chapters as well.
With each opponent that Sukuna faces, he simply keeps surprising the fans, showcasing his incredible depth in combat, and amazing stamina and resilience as well. While Sukuna certainly is incredible, right now, he looks like he’s facing his strongest challenge yet after the death of Gojo, and that comes in the form of Maki.
Maki Vs Sukuna
Maki joined the battle against Sukuna all of a sudden in chapter 251. Towards the very end of the chapter, Sukuna was successfully able to make a breakthrough in the fight against Yuta and Yuji. Both Yuta and Yuji did brilliantly in the fight against Sukuna, and it would be disingenuous to say that they were being dominated by the King of Curses. In fact, their strategy was actually flawless and they would most certainly have won the battle at Megumi taken their hand. However, given that he had lost his will to live, their plan crumbled in front of them, and this gave Sukuna the chance to hit them with the world slash. Utah was cut in half, however, he still persevered and, after that, broke his own domain, which signaled Maki to join the battle.
As soon as the domain broke, Maki decided to enter the battle and stab Sukuna right in the heart. This was an incredibly smart move by Maki, and one that shocked even the King of Curses. Maki stabbing Sukuna right in the heart with the Split Soul Katana meant that this damage could not be healed with regular reverse cursed technique.
Instead, Sukuna needed heightened reverse cursed technique and the ability to see the outline of his own soul to be able to heal. Thankfully for him, he was able to do it, however, his battle against Gojo meant that he could not heal this soul damage properly. This makes it Maki’s most exciting fight yet, and even though she cannot utilize cursed energy at all, she’s dominant. In JJK chapter 252, Maki was seen absolutely dominating the fight against Sukuna. Even though Sukuna was quite powerful and attempted to land quite a few blows on the young sorcerer, Maki was able to absolutely overwhelm him in every aspect of combat. Maki looked to be faster than him, and at the same time, she could overwhelm him in terms of strength as well. Sukuna had absolutely nothing on her in the chapter, and that just goes to show how skilled she is as a true sorcerer indeed.
Maki and Mahoraga
Sukuna immediately realized that Maki was quite a threat to him, and the fact that he had to make his own heart beat manually since Maki stabbed it meant that he could not keep on fighting like that for long. As a result, Sukuna resorted to utilizing his strongest technique yet, that is, the world slash technique was developed by Sukuna by observing Mahoraga, and, through it, he was able to kill Gojo as well. As such, this technique should have been able to kill Maki too, however, her incredibly heightened senses, which are a result of her Heavenly Restriction, meant that Maki was actually able to see through this slash. Maki could see the flash coming at her, and because of that, she dodged it effortlessly, which was nothing short of staggering for the fans, and Sukuna alike.
To that end, Sukuna compared Maki to Mahoraga. As fans might remember from Shibuya, Mahoraga was able to see through all of Sukuna’s attacks, and eventually, even adapt to them. Maki, similarly, can see through all of his attacks, and even the world slash, which is Sukuna’s strongest technique, can easily be dodged by her. As such, this battle is somewhat difficult for the King of Curses to win, especially since Maki is like no opponent that he has fought before.
Is Maki The Strongest Of The Sorcerers?
Maki has proven herself to be the strongest of the sorcerers that Sukuna has fought after the death of Gojo. This includes Kashimo, even though the King of Curses was in better shape at that point in time. Yuji and Choso certainly do not compare to Maki in any way. Yuta did put up a good display against him, however, eventually, he was not able to bypass the world slash. All the cursed techniques that he had copied and went on to utilize on Sukuna did not really do all that much of damage. It was Yuji who lowered Sukuna’s cursed energy output and control over Megumi by landing blows directly to his soul.
Taking all things into consideration, it would be fair to say that Maki is the strongest that Sukuna has fought after Gojo died. She can deal deadly damage to his soul, and at the same time, injure him greatly in a way where he can’t even heal properly. She can see through all of his attacks, and evade them effortlessly. She is stronger and faster than him in terms of physical attributes, and these things, when combined, make Maki a force to be reckoned with for anyone. As long as Maki knows what Sukuna is throwing at her, she has the upper hand in this battle.
That said, fans should keep in mind that Sukuna still hasn’t given his all. This was confirmed by Uraume towards the end of the previous chapter. According to Uraume, Sukuna’s Cursed energy rises when the level of his opponent is greater. As such, ever since Gojo died, Sukuna’s cursed energy has not been pushed to the maximum. This makes it quite clear that Sukuna still has not gone all out, and that he still has some things left up his sleeve that he is going to utilize sooner or later in combat.
It should be kept in mind that the fight against Maki will most likely continue over the course of the next few chapters, and that Sukuna is going to utilize more and more of his powers as he fights her. Maki too has not given her all just yet. She’s just getting started and, given that she is rather fresh, when compared to Sukuna, means that she still has a lot to show.
Clearly, this battle is just getting started and fans will most definitely get to see the best of both of them as it continues. These are exciting times for fans of both Maki and Sukuna, and it will be an incredibly enthralling battle to witness for the fans, as JJK continues over the course of the next few chapters. Thankfully, there is not going to be any interruption caused due to breaks, since JJK just returned from one, and fans will get to enjoy non-stop action over the course of the next few weeks.
Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of JJK, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 253, is set to be March 10, 2024.
