Mashle: Magic and Muscles has announced Mash’s return in January 2024, when Season 2 premieres.

As reported by Redbeanime, Mashle announced Season 2 following the release of Season 1’s finale titled “Mash Burndead and the Magic Mirror.” The announcement PV revealed Season 2 will adapt the “Divine Visionary Selection Exam.” Fans can expect to see more of Mash’s physical prowess as he advances through the various rounds of the Divine Visionary Selection Exam and fight against the other students. Meanwhile, six dangerous death row inmates have escaped from Hecatrice and appear to be on the hunt for Mash. The second season of Mashle premieres sometime in January 2024.

Mashle’s Anime Cast and Crew

Mashle launched its first episode, “Mash Burnedead and the Body of the Gods,” on April 8 and aired for 12 episodes. A-1 Pictures (Kaguya-sama: Love Is War and the upcoming anime adaptation of Solo Leveling) oversaw the production with director Tomoya Tanaka at the helm. Yōsuke Kuroda wrote the scripts, with Hisashi Toshima designing the characters. Chiaki Kobayashi (Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku and SK8 the Infinity) voices Mash Burnedead and Reiji Kawashima (To Your Eternity and Shadows House) as Finn Ames. Natsuki Hanae (Demon Slayer and Tokyo Ghoul) voices Cell War, who will play a bigger role in the upcoming season.

Written and illustrated by Hajime Kōmoto, Mashle began serialization in Weekly Shōnen Jump in January 2020 and concluded on July 2 with Chapter 162, “Mash Burnedead and the Generally Happy Ending.” Currently, the chapters have been collected in 16 tankōbon volumes. Volume 17 will release on July 3, with the final volume releasing on Oct. 3. The manga has generally been well-received and has over 5 million copies in circulation as of April 2023. Mashle received a nomination for the Next Manga Awards in 2020 and has garnered praise for its humor as well as its blend of parodying Harry Potter and One-Punch Man.

What Mashle Is About

Given the choice, Mash would spend his days with his adoptive father Regro and indulge in cream puffs. Alas, in the world of Mashle, the world is imbalanced and favors those with magical powers, ranking them in a hierarchy based on how strong they are — and Mash has no magical inclination at all. Hoping to live in peace with his father, Mash enrolls in Easton Magic Academy, a prestigious magic school that only allows exceptional students in, to become a Divine Visionary. Although Mash is at an apparent severe disadvantage, it won’t deter him from proving once and for all that those with muscles can be just as those with magic.

Mashle’s current season is available to watch on Crunchyroll.
