My Hero Academia Fan Art Depicts an Intense Battle Between Hawks and Dabi

A fan artist has brought My Hero Academia’s fiery battle between Dabi and Hawks to life.

Artist Minji (minji_fox) illustrated the fight between Dabi and Hawks from Season 6. In the fan art, Hawks is heavily injured, with blood coming from his nose and the sleeve of his coat ripped to reveal a large purple bruise on his arm. In one hand, he’s gripping one of his feather blades with its point aimed straight at Dabi’s throat, while the other is holding his hurt shoulder. Hawks can’t deal the final blow, though, with Dabi clutching the blade, preventing it from striking his throat and setting their surrounding area alight with powerful blue fire, the flames catching onto Hawks’ wings. Although this particular scene doesn’t appear in the episodes, it accurately captures the intensity of their confrontation.

Hawks has a carefree attitude and is quite laid-back. As the Winged Hero and current No. 2 Pro Hero, Hawks possesses a pair of large red wings, allowing him to fly and control each wing with just his mind. The feathers are extremely strong, capable of carrying a single human and able to sense people’s locations. Every time Hawks sheds his feathers, his wings shrink, rendering him unable to fly. One of the biggest weaknesses of his Quirk is fire, thus putting him at a severe disadvantage in a match-up against Dabi. Although the anime depicts the two as enemies, fans have come up with various fan theories about their relationship since Dabi revealed that he knew Hawks’ real name, with one idea being that they knew each other when they were children.

Season 6 of the wildly popular My Hero Academia aired in October 2022 and adapted the “Paranormal Liberation War” arc. The season continues the events of Season 5, where Hawks went undercover within the Paranormal Liberation Front, led by Shigaraki. Thanks to Twice’s trust in him, Hawks can pass the location of Shigaraki’s current experimentation to the heroes. However, his betrayal causes Twice to break, as the villain trusted Hawks. The two engage in a fight, with Dabi coming in later to help.

Kōhei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia began its serialization in Weekly Shōnen Jump in July 2014. Horikoshi mentioned in an interview in December 2021, “If ‘HeroAca’ continues to progress smoothly, in just about exactly a year from now it will meet its goal.” However, in the author’s comments section published in the Weekly Shōnen Jump Issue #45, Horikoshi wrote, “It’s been ten months since I said there was only about a year to go. I’m sorry,” hinting that the end of the superhero manga might not be as soon as fans first believed. Produced by Studio Bones, My Hero Academia follows aspiring hero Izuku Midoriya who inherits the No. 1 Pro Hero All Might’s Quirk, One for All. While the first few seasons focused on Midoriya’s training at the superhero school U.A. High School, the last two seasons have heightened the intensity, especially with the villains Shigaraki and his mentor All for One, All Might’s nemesis, growing increasingly stronger.

Season 6 of My Hero Academia is currently airing on Crunchyroll for two consecutive cours. The final episode of the first cour is set to air on Dec. 24.
