A new trailer for the upcoming anime, The Seven Deadly Sins: Four Knights of the Apocalypse, has dropped, confirming a release window and members of the cast and staff.
According to the fantastical and emotion-filled teaser, the new show will premiere later this year in October as part of the winter 2023 anime lineup. TMS Entertainment, the studio behind iconic anime like Detective Conan and D. Gray-man, is animating the Four Knights of the Apocalypse instead of A-1 Pictures, which produced the original Seven Deadly Sins anime as well as the tie-in film The Seven Deadly Sins the Movies: Prisoners of the Sky.
Four Knights of the Apocalypse’s Cast & Crew
Maki Odaira (Pokémon Journeys: The Series) serves as the director, with Shigeru Murakoshi (Zombie Land Saga) overseeing the series composition and Kohta Yamamoto (Attack on Titan: The Final Season) composing the music. Up-and-coming voice actor Shou Komura stars in Four Knights of the Apocalypse as protagonist Percival alongside more veteran actors like Kikunosuke Toya (Chainsaw Man), Kanna Nakamura (When Will Ayumu Make His Move?) and Kouki Uchiyama (The Ancient Magus’ Bride).
A sequel to The Seven Deadly Sins manga, written and illustrated by franchise creator Nakaba Suzuki, the Four Knights of the Apocalypse manga first appeared in Kodansha’s Weekly Shōnen Magazine in January 2021, and so far, the ongoing series has produced 11 volumes of content. The story follows Percival, a young boy who discovers his destiny is to destroy the world as part of the titular band of knights, as he attempts to hide from the forces of Camelot that seek to destroy him. Suzuki’s new series has performed well with critics, receiving a nomination in the Best Printed Manga category at the Next Manga Awards in 2021.
Seven Deadly Sins fans have more to be excited about than just the upcoming premiere of the Four Knights of the Apocalypse anime. Most notably, the movie, The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh Part 1, debuted on Netflix last December. The film follows Tristan, the son of Meliodas and Elizabeth, as he sets off on an adventure to save the life of his mother. The Seven Deadly Sins: Grudge of Edinburgh Part 2 has a scheduled release set for August 2023.
Moreover, McFarlane Toys now sells highly posable figurines of fan-favorite characters King and Meliodas. The King figure comes with a miniature of the Black Hound Oslo, while the Meliodas toy features his Hellblaze Sword.
The original Seven Deadly Sins anime is available on Netflix.
