Fans are doing a double-take with this fan’s Alice in Borderland Chishiya cosplay that looks like it came straight out of the live-action adaptation.
Aki春 uploaded a series of pictures on their Facebook page, showcasing their impressive cosplay as the clever Chishiya from the live-action series Alice in Borderland. Making use of what they had available, Aki春 used the black-gold gradient wig that Haikyuu!! cosplayers use for Kenma Kozume to use for Chishiya since the two characters possess the same pudding hair. With their sly expression, the cosplayer is the spitting image of Chishiya.
The Chishiya Cosplay Making Alice in Borderland Fans Look Twice
Videos and photos of Aki春 have been floating around on Tiktok, with many desperate to learn who the cosplayer is. Convinced it was Nijiro Murakami, who portrays the character in the Netflix series, many expressed shock when they realized it wasn’t the actor at all. One commenter even wrote, “biblically accurate chishiya.” Some people noted how perfectly Kenma’s hair fit for the occasion, and another TikTok user offered some helpful advice: “if u have kenma cosplay u have chishiya cosplay.”
First introduced in Episode 2 of the first season of Alice in Borderland, Chishiya exudes a nonchalant coolness to him. While everyone else is running around in a frenzied panic, viewers can find Chishiya strolling around, hands in his pocket, observing everything around him calmly. Nothing fazes him. He has the exceptional ability to know how to read people and what makes them tick. With his incredible intelligence and wit, Chishiya is a master at the Diamonds games.
Based on Haro Aso’s thriller manga series Alice in Borderland, Season 1 of the live-action adaptation released in December 2020, starring Kento Yamazaki as the protagonist Ryōhei Arisu, Tao Tsuchiya as Yuzuha Usagi and Nijiro Murakami as Chishiya. Set in a run-down alternate version of Tokyo, Season 1 follows Arisu and his friends who suddenly find themselves unwilling participants in a series of death games that require them to play against each other and themselves. After surviving Season 1 and moving on to play the face card games, Arisu and the remaining players must now play against the residents of the Borderland — all of whom know exactly how to win a game as they’re the ones who created them in the first place. If Arisu wins, he’ll be able to find out what the Borderland is and why they’re here. Season 2 premiered in Dec. 2022 and set a record for the most hours viewed in a week for a non-English television series during its opening week at 61,190,000 hours.
Season 1 and 2 of Alice in Borderland are available to stream on Netflix.
