Anya Forger gets an adorable, muscle-bound make-over in a new Spy x Family cosplay.
The cosplay video was posted on TikTok by a workout enthusiast, and in it, the pink-haired psychic shows that she doesn’t only have incredible mental abilities but physical ones as well by flexing her well-toned and developed arm muscles.
The Spy x Family manga by Tatsuya Endo first appeared in Shueisha’s Shōnen Jump+ in March 2019, and so far, the ongoing series has produced ten volumes worth of content. The story focuses on the dangerous but wholesome Forger family: the young daughter Anya, who can read other people’s thoughts; her adoptive father, Loid, one of the world’s most skillful spies; and her adoptive mother, Yor, a deadly assassin known as the Thorn Princess. As of December 2022, over 29 million copies of Spy x Family have sold worldwide as manga readers and fan flock to the comedic but action-packed series.
Spy x Family’s Popularity Earned It an Anime
The high level of popularity resulted unsurprisingly in an anime adaptation. Produced by CloverWorks (My Dress-Up Darling) and Wit Studio (Ranking of Kings), the show debuted its first part in April 2022 and its second cour in October 2022. Like Endo’s manga, the anime has garnered a passionate fan following. Those fans have continually shown their love and excitement for the story through stunning works of fan-made content, particularly cosplay. Beyond the muscle-bound Anya, TikTok user Bestiny figured out a creative way to showcase all the young mind reader’s emotions in a single cosplay.
Spy x Family Inspires Creative Cosplays
Of course, Anya isn’t the only Spy x Family character who has become a common cosplay inspiration; for example, aerial acrobat KoiOkazawaSlackline posted an insane video of them defying gravity as the Thorn Princess. Moreover, a hilarious cosplay video from Anime Festival Asia 2022 featured dancing, genderswapped versions of Ewen and Emile.
Multiple companies have leveraged Spy x Family’s popularity in order to turn a profit, producing a plethora of collectibles for fans to spend their hard-earned money on. Towards the end of last year, tableware maker Noritake released an elegant tea set inspired by the series; the cup and saucer have a pale pink and white color scheme and feature golden trim. Furthermore, Bandai launched a line of special Tamagotchis that allow gamers to raise their own Anya.
VIZ Media distributes Endo’s manga in North America, and the Spy x Family anime by Wit Studio and CloverWorks is available to stream on Crunchyroll and Hulu.
