Attack on Titan Fan Edit Reimagines the Rumbling With a Kaiju-Sized Spy x Family Anya

The following contains light spoilers for the Attack on Titan Final Season Part 3 premiere, “The Final Chapters Special 1,” now streaming on Crunchyroll.

This creative fan edit of Attack on Titan’s Rumbling demonstrates what happens when Spy x Family’s Anya doesn’t get her peanuts.

According to Bilibili user 田子元, it turns out Eren was never to blame for the Rumbling. In fact, he wasn’t the one who caused the utter devastation of humankind. All the blame rests on one being, and one being only: a certain pink-haired gremlin from Spy x Family. The fan cleverly edited Anya into the final episode of The Final Season Part 2 to create a seamless integration of turning the four-year-old into a formidable enormous Titan known as Starlight Anya.

Fear the Waku Waku-ing

In the fan edit, the navy prepares to take on an army of marching Anyas, her voice echoing as she announces her presence. Her awed “Ahhh” takes on a menacing quality when it’s multiplied by a hundred. No matter how many bullets and explosives are shot at her, nothing seems to deter her. At one point, Anya even wipes the sweat off her brow, the gesture mocking the horrified soldiers. Her battle cry, “Waku waku,” precedes the Founding Titan’s entrance as she descends upon the Earth. The original Founding Titan’s face may be scary, but it doesn’t hold a candle to Anya’s magnificent “Heh” face, superimposed on the Founding Titan’s skeletal form, as evidenced by the soldiers’ deafening screams.

The Rumbling continued in Attack on Titan: The Final Season Part 3, which aired its first part on March 3. Fans met the episode with a flood of tears and heartbroken reactions as they bid farewell to a character who has been on the series since the first season. An animator who worked on a key scene in the episode gifted fans a special illustration, saying they were glad “I was able to create the most heart-wrenching scene with my own work.”

The Connection Between Attack on Titan and Spy x Family

The anime adaptation of the hit manga series Attack on Titan, created by Hajime Isayama, will conclude in fall of 2023 after premiering in April 2013. The series, overall, has earned critical acclaim for its top-notch animation quality and soundtrack, created by legendary composer Hiroyuki Sawano. Wit Studio, which worked on the first three seasons of Attack on Titan, collaborated with CloverWorks to produce the anime adaptation of Tatsuya Endo’s action comedy series Spy x Family. The anime similarly garnered positive reception, with praise given in particular to the voice actors. A second season and original movie are scheduled to premiere sometime in the fall, making the season exciting for fans.

Spy x Family and all the current seasons of Attack on Titan are available to stream on Crunchyroll.
