A silly bathroom brawl in Boruto: Naruto Next Generations accumulated more views than a major One Piece fight.
As detailed in a recent post on the “Daily Dose of Anime” Facebook page, Boruto’s “Bathroom Battle” earned over 9.2 million views on YouTube, beating out Luffy’s Kaido fight by almost 5 million views. The numbers are surprising, considering that the bathroom fight is a minor scene done mainly for comedic purposes, while Kaido is one of Luffy’s most powerful and infamous foes. At the time of writing, Boruto’s bathroom battle has roughly 9.5 million total views.
What is Naruto’s Bathroom Battle?
Boruto’s “Bathroom Battle” occurs when Boruto and Kawaki disagree about who should use the toilet first. After Naruto, the bathroom’s current occupant orders them to “do their business outside,” they begrudgingly do so. However, after some more bickering about who should stand where, the conflict escalates into a full-out fight, which Naruto quickly steps in to break up. The scene ends comically, with Naruto complaining that those “damn kids” should “let him use the bathroom in peace.”
In contrast, Luffy’s battle against Kaido, the self-proclaimed “World’s Strongest Creature,” was one of the most anticipated showdowns in One Piece history, serving as the climax of the long-running “Wano Country” arc. While Luffy and Kaido fought on other occasions, this was the fight that decided the fate of Wano Country, which Luffy sought to free from Kaido’s tyranny. The action in this scene is literally explosive, with Luffy unleashing a devastating attack called “Red Roc” that completely incapacitates his beast-like opponent.
After nearly fifteen years of serialization, Masashi Kishimoto’s Naruto manga series officially ended in November 2014. Boruto: Naruto Next Generations continues the ninja’s legacy through the tale of his son. Boruto debuted in the 2015 film, Boruto: Naruto the Movie. In May 2016, the character’s adventures continued in the Boruto: Naruto Next Generations Manga, which started with Ukyo Kodachi as the main writer. Kishimoto and his assistant, Mikio Ikemoto, took over work on the series after the publication of its 51st chapter. Pierrot’s popular anime adaptation premiered in 2017 and is currently adapting the manga’s “Code Invasion” story arc. After circulating reports that the anime would go on hiatus, Boruto Part II received the green light for production. Episode 293, the final episode of Part I, will debut on March 26.
