Jujutsu Kaisen fans are eagerly looking forward to Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem after a Satoru Gojo Easter egg was spotted in the film’s trailer.
An eagle-eyed fan took to Twitter to reveal the anime-inspired discovery they found in a promotional video for the upcoming animated movie helmed by Seth Rogen. They noted that Jujutsu Kaisen’s resident special grade sorcerer, Satoru Gojo, can be seen on Donatello’s iconic bo staff. His beloved weapon features a painted depiction of the fan-favorite character, equipped with his black blindfold and snow-white hair.
Jujutsu Kaisen is one of the most popular anime on the market, and this new version of Donatello reflects his love for the series by imprinting it onto his weapon. This level of creativity and personalization for the bo staff has yet to be seen in previous adaptations, and JJK fans are pleased to see the show gain further recognition. Many commenters expressed their love for the concept, making jokes about Gojo being “multidimensional” and Donatello being “a weeb.”
A TMNT/Jujutsu Kaisen Crossover
TMNT: Mutant Mayhem is set to release on Aug. 4, 2023, and has an impressive cast full of A-list actors, such as Jackie Chan, John Cena, Seth Rogen, Giancarlo Esposito, Ice Cube, Maya Rudolf, and more. Jeff Rowe and Kyler Spears, who worked together on The Mitchells vs. The Machines, are directing and the story will follow the titular heroes as they battle to save New York City from an onslaught of mutants.
Jujutsu Kaisen follows a young man, Yuji Itadori, who swallows a magical item and becomes a human/curse hybrid. He is taken in by Tokyo Jujutsu High, where he is taught to become a sorcerer under the watchful eye of Gojo. The character is one of the most popular figures in both the JJK manga, written by Gege Akutami, and the hit anime created by Studio Mappa. He enchanted fans quickly with his unique look, fun personality, and incredible power.
The series has been well received, with the prequel movie Jujutsu Kaisen 0, recently winning the Best Movie Award at the Crunchyroll Anime Awards. It is available to stream on Crunchyroll and will begin its second season in July 2023.
