An avid Chainsaw Man fan has created a cosplay that perfectly captures the violence-loving, fun-having, aspiring Nobel Prize winner Power.
Cosplayer Lipayy recently uploaded images to her Instagram account showing off her version of Denji’s best friend and work partner, Power. She was pictured wearing the character’s white shirt and tie Public Safety uniform, with a blue hoodie on top, matching Power’s clothing combo perfectly. Lipayy finished the look with a long blonde wig and the character’s iconic red horns sitting atop her head. The costume and make-up captured Power’s aesthetic, but she took it further by bringing the Blood Fiend’s personality to the forefront.
Lipayy Accurately Brought Power to Life
Power’s erratic and fun energy was visible in the cosplay, with the first shot showing Power on her knees with her fist on her head and the second depicting her pulling her cheek with her finger and clenching her chest. This pose was a direct parallel to the show, as the character willingly used her body to tease and manipulate Denji in the first few episodes, with the pose reflecting their agreement to grant him “three squeezes” once he saved her cat from the Bat Devil. The post’s caption extended on the connection, as it read, “where’s my Nyako?” in reference to Power’s beloved feline friend and pet.
The excellent costume, accurate energy, and reference to the show’s plot came together to make a cosplay that captured the character perfectly. The comments reflected this, with users praising the Lipayy for her costume and anime-accurate poses.
Chainsaw Man, written by Tatsuki Fujimoto, tells the story of a young man called Denji who makes a contract with his pet devil dog – Pochita – and becomes a half-human half-devil fiend known as Chainsaw Man. From there, he falls into the arms of the mysterious Makima, who employs him as a Public Safety Devil Hunter. The manga is currently in its second major arc after finishing the “Public Safety Saga” in 97 chapters.
Studio Mappa (Jujutsu Kaisen, Attack on Titan: The Final Season, Yuri!!! on Ice) adapted the manga into an anime in 2022. The series was well received, gaining praise for its great animation and inventive story, with the first 12 episodes concluding in December. No information on the second season is available yet, but there is speculation that it will be part of the 2023 Fall line-up in October.
The series is available to stream on Crunchyroll in Japanese, English, Spanish, German, French, Portuguese and Russian.
