My Hero Academia‘s 6th and most recent season has recently concluded, leaving anime fans everywhere in awe. If the 5th season felt a little aimless and lacked tension, then Season 6 more than made up for it with the first act of the final pro heroes vs villains war for society’s future. Almost everyone who is someone took part, and the casualties are adding up fast on both sides.
As the war heated up, a handful of heroes and villains alike rose to prominence as the most important and noteworthy characters in this entire season. Several of them were chosen by destiny to fight for society’s future, while others shook up society with their words or their actions, and Japan’s hero society will never be the same again because of it.
10 Izuku Midoriya
Protagonist Izuku Midoriya’s zero to hero character arc has made him My Hero Academia‘s single most important character, and the strain is getting to him. Only Izuku, with the power of One For All and its built-in Quirks can defeat the villains as the new symbol of peace.
Izuku is the child of destiny and knows it, but it’s more of a burden than a privilege. At one point, Izuku became convinced he had to run off and defeat Tomura Shigaraki on his own to avoid burdening everyone else, giving rise to the short-lived Dark Deku.
9 Tomura Shigaraki
At first, the insidious Tomura Shigaraki was just another villain in MHA, and some pro heroes even called him a man-child with a temper. Now, Tomura Shigaraki has risen to become the symbol of evil, being the villains’ version of All Might.
Tomura Shigaraki is helping to lead the entire Paranormal Liberation Front, and he is that group’s strongest member by far. So long as Tomura is running free, the war will continue, and all of society will be in danger. It may take the combined power of class 1-A and all remaining pro heroes to finally defeat this supervillain for good.
8 All For One
The ancient All For One was the original symbol of evil and the League of Villains’ founder and first leader, meaning he has already made his mark on Japan’s history in the era of Quirks. He may have lost to All Might Twice, but All For One is still playing an active role in shaping history.
All For One helped make Tomura Shigaraki what he is today, and AFO actually aims to control Tomura as a living vessel. If so, All For One and Tomura will share the role of being the symbol of evil and society’s worst nightmare for some time yet.
7 Hawks
The winged pro hero called Hawks rose to prominence in the last two My Hero Academia seasons as an idealistic, crafty, and incredibly brave pro hero. Hawks is the #2 hero, and proved his worth by joining the Meta Liberation Army as a double agent who even had Re-Destro and Twice fooled.
Hawks’ mission is what made the hero assault early in Season 6 possible, and even after Dabi badly burned his wings, Hawks is still fighting. He personally dispatched the dangerous Twice, then swore to become one of Izuku’s most vital allies in the hunt for Tomura Shigaraki.
6 Lady Nagant
The villain Lady Nagant was important in My Hero Academia for two reasons. First, she provided Dark Deku with his first real challenge via her sniper rifle-themed Quirk, as opposed to the brawny Muscular, who was defeated rather easily.
Second, Lady Nagant blurred the line between heroes and villains, being a disillusioned public safety agent who fell to villainy. If an idealistic fighter like Lady Nagant can turn her back on hero society, that’s a worrying sign that other heroes may soon do the same – or already have.
5 Best Jeanist
The calm, serious pro hero Best Jeanist is the #3 hero, and he proved why in My Hero Acadmia’s most recent season. Best Jeanist is tougher than he looks, having survived a mortal blow from All For One so he can keep fighting villainy one denim fiber at a time.
Like Hawks, Best Jeanist refused to quit his job and stubbornly hung on so he could support Izuku. By now, only a large handful of pro heroes remain, Best Jeanist among them, and they will fight to the end. Best Jeanist also heroically arrived in the fight against Gigantomachia to turn the tide.
4 Dr. Garaki
Dr. Garaki is a villainous scientist and a longtime friend and ally of All For One. Dr. Garaki appeared later in the My Hero Academia anime as the one who made all those deadly Nomu, and then he used his dark science and AFO’s Quirk to place numerous Quirks in Tomura Shigaraki.
Dr. Garaki is a key member of the villains’ team, to the point the heroes launched a massive assault just to capture him and shut down his lab. Dr. Graki was indeed captured by Mirko and Present Mic, but his work was already done, and a mostly-complete Tomura awakened to start fighting once again.
3 Ochaco Uraraka
Izuku’s good friend Ochaco Uraraka often blends into the background, though she’s had her moments, such as her duels against Himiko Toga and her battle against Katsuki Bakugo in the UA sports tournament. In the last MHA season, Ochaco also fought with her words.
The civilians taking shelter in UA tried to keep Izuku away, concerned that Izuku would lure all the dangerous villains there. So, Ochaco leaped onto the rooftop and delivered a heartfelt speech that convinced the crowd to welcome Izuku and put their faith in him for future battles against villainy.
2 Endeavor
The fire-slinging hero Endeavor was almost an antagonist at first, being the one responsible for Shoto Todoroki’s rough upbringing. More recent MHA seasons provided a more balanced view, with Endeavor admitting and regretting his many past wrongs.
Now Endeavor is symbolic in the narrative, proving that heroes are flawed human beings like anyone else, though unlike villains, heroes like him might actually regret their actions. Also, along with Best Jeanist and Hawks, Endeavor refused to quit and is pushing himself to the limit to support Izuku and class 1-A.
1 Dabi/Toya Todoroki
For years, My Hero Academia fans wondered if the fire-based villain Dabi was connected to Shoto and Endeavor, and Season 6 confirmed those theories. Dabi was born as Toya Todoroki, the eldest of Endeavor’s and Rei’s children, and he nearly died when his fire Quirk overwhelmed him.
Dabi outed himself as Toya, son of Endeavor, in Season 6 and rocked all of Japan with that announcement. Toya Todoroki’s aim wasn’t just to get this dire secret off his chest, but to turn society against Endeavor and shatter everyone’s faith in pro heroes, which is exactly what happened.
