Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 244 officially dropped earlier today and it is safe to say that this week’s chapter was certainly fun for all the fans to witness. As expected, the fight between Kenjaku and Yuta is over now, which means that the focus can finally start shifting towards Sukuna.
Jujutsu Kaisen: Gojo’s Comeback Using A Binding Vow, Explained
Satoru Gojo might come back by using a Binding Vow in JJK.
While fans expected more focus to be thrown at the difficult situation that Kenjaku was facing, the author decided to completely cut away from that and take all of his focus to Sukuna, which the readers certainly did not complain about, given that the fight at hand is a very interesting one. That and much more was tackled in JJK chapter 244.
Kenjaku’s Fate Stays A Mystery
In the previous chapter of JJK, fans got to see Kenjaku conclude his battle against Takaba, and as soon as that happened, Yuta snuck up on him from behind and used his sword to cut his head right off. Finally, Kenjaku was put down and he could not make a move against Yuta anymore. This was incredibly difficult for Kenjaku to process, given that he had planned everything and his battle against Takaba was going well for him as well. It was only after he was attacked that he realized that everything was a setup for him to lower his guard and for Yuta to deliver a powerful blow that would then lift his head off of his shoulders.
Kenjaku made it seem like he was dying, and fans expected to find an answer to that in JJK chapter 244. However, that was not to be and the author decided to not reveal anything about whether died or survived or whether Yuta is currently safe or not. The entire conflict surrounding him was completely kept secret and, instead, all focus was taken to the main battlefield in Shinjuku, where Gojo previously died, and following him, Kashimo ended up falling to the strongest sorcerer as well. Fans already knew that the fight between Sukuna and Yuji was now on the horizon and, finally, JJK chapter 244 tackled that.
The Plan To take Down Sukuna
As soon as Yuji and Higuruma joined the battle in JJK chapter 244, fans got to see a flashback of all the main characters discussing their strategy to take down Kenjaku and Sukuna. They discussed how to bring down Kenjaku first. The process of using Takaba as bait and then Yuta being sent to kill him was discussed. Much to the surprise of the fans, this strategy went exactly as planned and, so far, everything is going their way. They also mentioned that Yuta would have to return quickly after dealing with Kenjaku and join the main battle. Meanwhile, the process of fighting against Sukuna was discussed as well. It was believed that Gojo was to be their first shield of defense against Sukuna and, if Gojo fell, then Kashimo would be sent to battle against the strongest.
Given that they knew how strong Sukuna was, they decided to create the next plan of action in case Kashimo fell to him as well. Yuji and Higuruma decided that they would go into battle and a plan was then chalked down. Essentially, Higuruma would end up using the power of his Shikigami, Judgeman, to prosecute Sukuna and give somewhat of an advantage to his team. Of course, Sukuna would have to be declared guilty by the Judgeman in order for their strategy to work and that was revealed to be a big problem for the group.
Different strategies were discussed circling how to get Sukuna in a tough spot, where they could then declare him guilty and pass a successful verdict on him before finally dealing with him. In the end, it was revealed by Yuji that he has a plan to get Sukuna to answer for the crimes that he committed. Essentially, Yuji’s trial from before would be continued as soon as they enter the battlefield, only this time, with Sukuna as a co-defendant. This would allow Judgeman the opportunity to pass a sentence and if Yuji is freed from all those charges and Sukuna is the one who is being penalized, then they certainly have a big chance.
Yuji Jumps Into Battle
JJK chapter 244 then focused on the present timeline, where Yuji and Higuruma jumped into battle. Sukuna is certainly underestimating these characters, and he does not know that Yuji is infuriated and, at the same time, wants to destroy Sukuna in battle. He believes that it is his responsibility to deal with him, especially after Gojo has fallen. Yuji did not waste any time jumping into battle and when Mei Mei created a distraction for him, Yuji immediately punched rocks at an incredibly fast speed, and then snuck up on Sukuna to deliver a powerful punch which he was forced to block. While Sukuna successfully blocked the punch, he felt a vibration shake his entire body and this appears to be new, coming from Yuji.
As to what exactly this power is, fans do not know at the moment and will have to wait until this technique is further explained later down the line. Immediately after, Higuruma joined the battle as well and he decided to use his Domain Expansion to kickstart their strategy, and get Sukuna to answer for his crimes. So far, it appears that everything is going their way and it will be extremely interesting to see how things progress further in the upcoming chapters of JJK.
Deadly Sentencing Released
Towards the very end of the chapter, Higuruma unleashed the power of Deadly Sentencing, and a domain was created, inside which was a courtroom. Both Yuji and Sukuna were defendants and Higuruma and Judgeman were seen tackling this case. Higuruma announced in the courtroom that Yuji was innocent and that the only reason why he agreed to the charges placed against him previously was because of his strong sense of responsibility. Higuruma then proceeded to mention that the one actually responsible for committing the mass murder in Shibuya was none other than Sukuna and, from here onwards, it will be extremely interesting to see how this case develops.
The editor called this the Battle of the Courtroom and it will surely take an interesting turn in the upcoming chapter. Whether Sukuna is proclaimed guilty or not hinges greatly on this big risk that Yuji is taking. This gamble could end up in Sukuna either losing his cursed technique or even his life. However, if it fails, then Yuji could end up paying heavily for it and it will be interesting to see how the author deals with this going forward. For now, all eyes are on Shinjuku, where the third biggest battle is now being fought. Fans are very excited for JJK to continue, however, they will have to wait for quite a bit as the manga is going on a break, which means that in 2 weeks’ time, the story will finally return and continue Sukuna’s trial.
Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of JJK, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 245, is set to be December 17, 2023.
