The King of Curses, Ryomen Sukuna is certainly the most powerful individual in the entirety of Jujutsu Kaisen and the primary antagonist of the series. Sukuna has reached the pinnacle of Jujutsu Sorcery, and few can match up to him and combat, if any.
Sukuna possesses insurmountable strength, and his hunger for battle only makes him stronger as time passes. Defeating him is incredibly difficult, and this is largely down to the fact that he doesn’t show many weaknesses at all. That said, there are some small weaknesses that Sukuna has that can be exploited by others in an attempt to defeat him in combat.
6 Angel’s Technique Extinguishment
A Weakness Common To All Sorcerers
One of the biggest weaknesses that Sukuna has comes from Angel’s Technique Extinguishment. Sukuna actually almost fell prey to this technique in the Culling Game arc. Using this technique, Sukuna can essentially be cleansed out of anyone’s body and when it was used on him while he was in Megumi’s body, it almost killed him.
At that point, the author had to save Sukuna’s life by making Angel rather stupid. Sukuna tricked her into believing that Megumi had returned, and when she believed him, he attacked her, successfully evading the cursed technique. Later down the line, in the Shinjuku Showdown arc, Yuta fought against Sukuna, and once again, the King of Curses was made the target for Jacob’s Ladder. This time too, Sukuna would have died, however, Megumi, who had to fight back against Sukuna, did not want to do so and eventually, the King of Curses struck back. That said, without plot armor, Sukuna would most certainly fall prey to Jacob’s Ladder.
5 Split Soul Katana
A Cursed Tool That Hurts The Soul
The Split Soul Kitana is one of the most powerful cursed tools to exist in the JJK verse. This weapon was primarily wielded by Toji Fushiguro. However, when Mai sacrificed herself, she left behind the exact replica of the Split Soul Katana and she essentially embodies the blade.
This blade is now wielded by Maki Zenin, and she is incredibly proficient with it. Maki already dealt a deadly blow to Sukuna with the Split Soul Katana right through his heart, and this resulted in him taking tremendous damage. In fact, healing damage dealt with this sword is impossible for the vast majority, especially because it deals damage directly to the soul by ignoring all defenses. However, those who can see the outline of their souls can actually heal, and Sukuna, being inside Megumi’s body with two souls, can actually do that. Still, taking too many attacks from the Split Soul Katana would make it absolutely impossible for Sukuna to survive.
4 Yuji Itadori’s Attacks
Itadori Can Damage Souls
Yuji Itadori is quite a lot like the Split Soul Katana himself. While he doesn’t negate any physical barriers, any damage that Yuji delivers to Sukuna is directly transferred to the soul. Every punch from Yuji shakes Sukuna’s very soul, and the King of Curses himself admitted to the fact that Yuji was actually reducing his cursed energy output, as well as decreasing his control over Megumi’s body. It
In many ways, Yuji is the perfect counter to Sukuna, and this power that he possesses, which is unexplained in the story so far, is one of the biggest weaknesses of the King of Curses.
3 Can Be Suppressed
Sukuna Can Be Contained Under Certain Conditions
Another major weakness of Sukuna is that he can be suppressed, however, this only works under certain conditions. For Sukuna to be suppressed, he had to be in Yuji’s body, or, the body that he’s inhabiting, such as that of Megumi, must actively fight back against it.
It was incredibly difficult for Sukuna to take control of Yuji’s body, and that made him the perfect vessel. Yuji could suppress him, and this would essentially make Sukuna quite easy to kill, at the expense of Yuji. However, ever since he moved to Megumi, this weakness hardly exists, especially since Megumi has lost the will to live.
2 Split In Fingers
Sukuna Could’ve Been Prevented From Resurrecting
Another major weakness of Sukuna, at least at the beginning of the story, is that he was split in fingers. This greatly reduced Sukuna’s strength, and his true resurrection could easily have been prevented if measures were taken accordingly.
Sukuna could also have been taken down at less strength through his fingers. Unfortunately, nobody really exploited this big weakness of his for many reasons.
1 Can Be Outsmarted
Sukuna Isn’t The Smartest
While Sukuna is clearly the strongest individual in the entire series, he certainly is not the smartest. His battle IQ is very high, however, he can certainly be outmaneuvered and fans have seen this on quite a few occasions.
Against strong and smart individuals, Sukuna’s back will be turned against the wall, and that is one department in which he is simply human. This weakness of his can be exploited and might well be exploited later down the road.
