- Expect chaotic deaths in
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga
, showcasing the brutality of a post-apocalyptic world. - Be prepared for graphic scenes like a throat torn out by a bike engine and limbs torn off by motorcycles.
If there is one thing viewers come to these Mad Max movies for, it’s the action. Mad Max: Fury Road took the franchise to new heights with its astounding stunt work not seen in most movies. While Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga doesn’t exceed what that movie accomplished, it still provides fans with a kickstart to the summer of movies in 2024.
In a film as chaotic as Furiosa, it’s expected that within that action comes death. Some of these characters’ deaths are triumphant while others are deeply depressing. The wasteland is not an easy place to live, and some deaths are brutal and savage, showcasing the true depravity of a post-apocalyptic society.
Spoilers ahead for Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga!
8 Furiosa’s Kidnapper
Has His Throat Torn Out By His Bike’s Engine
The band of kidnappers that belong to the Biker Horde all die in their rush to leave The Green Place. Most of them die via being sniped by Furiosa’s mother, Mary Jabassa. Of the many who tried to kidnap Furiosa, the one that bites it the hardest is the final survivor.
As he is about to tell Dementus about The Green Place, Furiosa hooks the kidnapper’s neck to his bike, starts it up, and then the engine tears out a big chunk of his flesh. It doesn’t immediately kill him, but it eventually does due to blood trauma.
7 Mary Jabassa
Crucified And Tortured To Death
Mary Jabassa puts up a good fight to try and rescue Furiosa. Unfortunately, the Biker Horde eventually captures her. What’s worse is that her sacrifice is in vain because Furiosa tracks her down. Not much is shown but she is tied up like Jesus on the cross and is presumably tortured to death.
One can only imagine the horrors that Mary Jabassa experienced. Since Dementus is known to be a casual cannibal and lover of human flesh, it’s also quite possible that Mary Jabassa is eventually eaten, but that’s a big assumption.
6 The Wastelander
Has His Head And Limbs Torn Off By Motorcycles
There are a lot of characters that aren’t given names in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga. They have incidental roles as canon fodder like the man shown fleeing the Biker Horde toward the beginning of the movie. Once captured, Dementus ties five chains to this man’s head and limbs, connecting them up to five motorcycles like something out of Braveheart.
The other surviving wastelanders in this man’s party are given a choice. The five people who ride these motorcycles and kill him will be spared while the rest die. So, a scene reminiscent of Battle Royale plays out for the ones who will kill this man, leading to him eventually being spliced into five sections via motorcycles.
5 A War Boy’s Sacrifice
A War Boy Does A Fatal Fall With Two Explosive Rods
The War Boys in this franchise are basically bred to be destroyed. The only love Immortan Joe shows them is “witnessing them” in battle. There aren’t many War Boy-related deaths in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga compared to Mad Max: Fury Road, but one scene in particular stands out.
Dementus is asked to choose a War Boy at random to sacrifice when he arrives at The Citadel for the first time. This random War Boy does what he is told with a smile, gleaming with frosty chrome paint, as he leaps to his doom. The explosion kicks off a conflict between The Citadel and the Biker Horde for one of Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga’s more impressive stunts.
4 The Mayor Of Gastown
A Heavy Drill Afixes Itself Into The Back Of His Head
The Mayor of Gastown does not have a name, but he is related to Immortan Joe, who chose him to lead Gastown. Dementus pulls a Trojan Horse tactic and takes over Gastown, taking the mayor hostage. When he goes back to The Citadel to make a deal with Immortan Joe, Dementus is rigged up to the mayor with a Saw-like device.
The Mayor of Gastown’s head is in a vice tied to Dementus’ nipples. After deals are made, Dementus accidentally lets go of the device which rips through the mayor’s head and also removes Dementus’ nipples. It might be the most graphic scene in the film.
3 The Octoboss
Blended Up With The Bommy Knocker
The Octoboss is one of the generals in Dementus’ Biker Horde, who looks like he came straight out of a Hideo Kojima game. Due to disagreements, he eventually leaves the Biker Horde to start a new faction. He appears in another wild stunt scene in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, trying to take over a War Rig from Praetorian Jack.
While the scene is clever and exciting, The Octoboss eventually loses when the War Rig’s special weapon is initiated. Chains start to spin around the tanker’s backside which pulls The Octoboss in for a gruesome kill that grinds him up.
2 Praetorian Jack
Dragged Through Dirt Whilst Being Eaten Alive By Dogs
Praetorian Jack falls in love with the wrong woman in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, the titular Furiosa, because it gets him tangled up with Dementus. To torture Furiosa, Dementus plays with her mind once again. First, he kills her mother in front of her as a girl and then he drags Praetorian Jack around on a motorcycle for either countless hours or countless days.
He eventually has dogs chase and eat Praetorian Jack as he is being dragged around like a big sack of meat being tenderized by gravel. Thankfully the film never shows what Praetorian Jack actually looks like after this travesty but one can only imagine the worst just like the case with Mary Jabassa.
1 Dementus
Kept In Secret As A Living Peach Tree
Technically the movie never says if Dementus is alive or dead. In the final confrontation between Dementus and Furiosa, the narrator illustrates several ways he could have died like a simple gunshot to the head. In what seems like the true ending though, Dementus is shown high above The Citadel with a tree growing out of his lower half.
It’s a very Greek-like curse just like the one Mimir suffered from in God of War via Zeus. Dementus looks like a weakened old man and presumably doesn’t have much longer to live since the tree was draining him of his nutrients. Of the many wild deaths in this series or assumed deaths, Dementus takes the cake.
