The end of Buffy The Vampire Slayer season 1 has some intense scenes featuring vampires. One of the most memorable is when Jenny Calendar (Robia LaMorte) and Willow head to The Bronze and find themselves facing a group of vampires. After Buffy faces the Master, they drink her blood and she falls unconscious.

Thankfully, however, Xander saves Buffy by giving her CPR. In the epic final moment of the season, vampires arrive at the high school and get into the library. The characters also face the threat of a creature with three heads. When Buffy finally wins against the Master, she proves that she is one of the strongest slayers in the TV series. Buffy stands on the school’s roof and throws the Master down to the library where his skeleton is the only sign left of him. Buffy then makes sure that the Hellmouth isn’t open anymore and everything seems fine again in Sunnydale.

There are several moments throughout the TV series when Buffy almost dies, which makes sense given the strong and scary vampires she is always fighting against. At the end of Buffy The Vampire Slayer season 1, it’s fairly clear that Buffy is going to survive since she’s the main character and there have only been 11 episodes so far. However, the fight scene between Buffy and the Master in the library is still entertaining and impressive.

The season 1 finale sets up the next season perfectly by proving that ever since Buffy found out about her slayer fate, she is in charge of protecting Sunnydale. In the season 2 premiere, “When She Was Bad,” Giles lets Buffy know that she still has to be aware of the ramifications of the Hellmouth opening.

Seasons two through seven of Buffy The Vampire Slayer are action-packed and the threats to Sunnydale become even greater, and Dawn (Michelle Trachtenberg)’s season 5 introduction is important. However, season 1 of Buffy The Vampire Slayer still has some fun episodes and significant moments.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Season 1 episodes:

  • episode 1: “Welcome to the Hellmouth”
  • episode 2: “The Harvest”
  • episode 3: “Witch”
  • episode 4: “Teacher’s Pet”
  • episode 5: “Never Kill a Boy on the First Date”

  • episode 9: “The Puppet Show”
  • episode 10: “Nightmares”

Some of the stand-out episodes of season 1 of Buffy The Vampire Slayer include the pilot “Welcome to the Hellmouth,” “Teacher’s Pet,” and “Angel.” In the pilot, Buffy meets her classmates at Sunnydale High and gets used to the idea of being the slayer, which she realizes will change her life forever. In “Teacher’s Pet,” Xander and his classmates are romantically interested in Miss French (Musetta Vander), a substitute teacher who is a praying mantis. In “Angel,” Buffy develops feelings for Angel (David Boreanez) and they kiss for the first time.

Before Willow becomes evil in Buffy, she is a significant part of Buffy The Vampire Slayer season 1 as she, Buffy, and Xander form their own social circle at Sunnydale High School from the very first episode. It’s moving watching these three characters bond and it’s clear that as Buffy’s life becomes more complicated as she juggles school, dating, and killing vampires, Willow and Xander will become an even bigger part of her mission to save Sunnydale.
