Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 264 revealed Yuji’s Domain Expansion to the fans for the very first time, and this has been an extremely important moment in the entire series. This is something that fans have been waiting to see for 4 years now, and the author finally delivering upon it means that the story is incredibly close to its end.
Yuji has finally excelled to a level where he can utilize the peak of Jujutsu Sorcery, and this just goes to show how far he has come. Fans are already in awe of Yuji tapping into this power, however, there is more to come from him. The next chapter of JJK will most likely showcase what Yuji’s domain is all about, and fans are already excited to see its powers. However, there are a lot of fans who are confused about how Yuji’s domain actually manifested. For an individual who did not even have any Innate Technique, here’s how this came to be.
Sukuna’s Role In Yuji Getting A Domain Expansion
Sukuna Taking Over Yuji’s Body Had Its Silver Linings
The biggest reason why Yuji even has a domain expansion right now is Sukuna. When Yuji became his vessel, Gojo mentioned that, eventually, he would assimilate that cursed energy into his own body and Sukuna’s technique would become Yuji’s own. This was also backed by Shoko much later down the line, when she also claimed something similar. Fans were waiting for Yuji to gain Sukuna’s technique, but it did not happen until much later in the story. In fact, fans even started believing that Gojo’s theory about Yuji gaining these powers was incorrect. However, in the Shinjuku Showdown arc of JJK, things finally started happening. Yuji manifested a unique cursed technique, which was later revealed to be the Shrine cursed technique. Not only did Yuji gain Sukuna’s cursed technique, but, at the same time, it was also revealed that Yuji’s body learned things very quickly due to having been Sukuna’s host. At the same time, his experience of utilizing said techniques and powers made him an incredibly efficient sorcerer.
In time, your body will learn Sukuna’s technique. – Gojo Satoru
For instance, Yuji utilizing techniques such as reverse cursed technique, barrier techniques, and many other powers that came naturally to him because Sukuna utilized these powers in his body and his body’s muscle memory remembered how these techniques worked. Regardless, Yuji gaining the power to use the Shrine cursed technique formed the basis of him learning the Domain Expansion. It must also be remembered that Yuji’s technique is different from Sukuna’s. Sukuna’s cursed technique uses indiscriminate slashes to cut down anything and everything in his path, while Yuji utilizes scissor-like markings to deal precise hits. That said, the technique, in essence, is the same.
Yuji’s Training Under Kusakabe Before Shinjuku Showdown
Yuji Trained Under Kusakabe During The Timeskip
While Yuji learning the Shrine technique formed the basis of him utilizing this Domain Expansion, there is more to it than just that. For any individual to manifest a Domain Expansion, they should be a master of barrier techniques first, or, at the very least, they should know how to utilize barrier techniques. Yuji had no experience with barrier techniques at all, that is, until recently in the story. When the time skip of JJK happened, shortly before the Shinjuku Showdown Arc, Yuji trained with Kusakabe, who fans know to be a great user of New Shadow Style, which means techniques such as simple domain. He even showed his mastery with this technique in the battle against Sukuna, and it was certainly absolutely masterful. During this time period, Yuji could swap bodies twice. He did so once with Yuta, and once with Kusakabe. He learned Simple Domain and possibly other barrier techniques as well. Because of that, Yuji now is capable of manifesting a domain.
Master it already, Itadori! – Kusakabe in Yuji’s body
In fact, Yuji even manifested a simple domain when he fought against Sukuna earlier. When Sukuna’s domain returned to him, he unleashed a powerful barrage of Malevolent Shrine on all the sorcerers around him. Yuji was able to withstand this 99-second domain because of the simple domain that was taught to him by Kusakabe. Had it not been for this technique, Yuji would most definitely have been massacred.
Regardless, fans know that Yuji was able to pull this incredible feat off, and now, much down the line, this very same class of ability has come to his aid in the battle against Sukuna. Putting two and two together, one can see how Yuji was able to manifest Domain Expansion.
Yuji Domain Expansion Finally Manifests
Yuji Unleashed His Domain Expansion On Sukuna In JJK 264
Yuji tapped into the power of Domain Expansion in JJK chapter 264. For those who do not know how this technique was manifested in the first place, all they need to know is that Yuji has the power of the Shrine cursed technique, which essentially Sukuna gifted to him inadvertently, and secondly, Yuji learned the ability to utilize barrier techniques through his training with Kusakabe. When these two abilities are put together, one gains the ability to tap into a Domain Expansion. Of course, manifesting a proper domain is still very hard. For instance, Megumi Fushiguro was able to infuse his domain with his innate technique, however, was still only able to get an incomplete Domain Expansion. Clearly, manifesting a Domain Expansion is not easy, but Yuji was still able to do it, which is down to two things, mainly.
Domain Expansion. – Yuji Itadori
The first thing is that Yuji was Sukuna’s former host. The fact that he was his host means that Yuji knew how to utilize Domain Expansion, and much of it was down to muscle memory. Secondly, and most importantly, Yuji is a genius of sorts, himself. Yuji is not one to underestimate, and it is because of his genius fighting style that he was able to tap into something that even Megumi could not manifest fully. Yuji’s powers are absolutely incredible, and so is his charisma. Fans know that he has fully manifested a Domain Expansion and that he will most likely end the battle with the King of Curses within his domain.
Of course, what exactly the powers of Yuji’s domain entails, fans do not know. To see that, fans will have to wait until JJK chapter 265, as that is going to extensively cover Yuji’s battle with Sukuna inside the domain. Things are going to get messy and fans should be prepared for an extremely exciting battle, and possibly even the end of the entire fight against the King of Curses. This battle has been absolutely surreal, and it deserves a surreal end, which Yuji’s domain would perfectly deliver In the upcoming few chapters of the story. Hopefully, this Domain Expansion’s powers will live up to the expectations of the fans, and showcase Yuji’s ascent to the highest levels of Jujutsu Sorcery by taking down the King of Curses.
Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of JJK, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 265, is set to be August 4, 2024.
