Filming recently wrapped on Bosch: Legacy season 3, with no official release date being revealed as yet. Titus Welliver will once again return as Harry Bosch alongside Mimi Rogers as District attorney hopeful, Honey ‘Money’ Chandler and Madison Lintz as Maddie Bosch as the three co-leads. Stephen A. Chang will also return as tech whizz, Maurice ‘Mo’ Bassi in season 3, and he looks set for an interesting storyline. Season 2 teased some potential tension between Mo Bassi and Harry Bosch and Money Chandler, after the FBI arrested him, and tried to get him to inform on his employers.

Mo Bassi first appeared in Bosch: Legacy season 1, and his character is a top level hacker, who helps Bosch gain access to information to assist with his cases. Just like Bosch, Bassi is a jazz music aficionado and bonds with the ex LAPD detective over this shared interest, but there could be trouble ahead for the pair, if he’s forced to co-operate with the feds. Season 3 will be based on two of Michael Connelly’s books: The Black Ice from 1993 and his 2022 book, Desert Star, and Renee Ballard will show up before she appears in her own spin-off series.

What happened to Mo Bassi in Bosch: Legacy season 2?

Maurice ‘Mo’ Bassi has proven to be a loyal and a key part of Harry Bosch’s private investigations in Bosch: Legacy, and he was instrumental in the search for Bosch’s daughter, Maddie, who’d been kidnapped by Kurt Dockweiler. He hacked into the rapist’s personal data to zero in on a search radius for Maddie, and this led to ther rookie cop’s safe return.

Mo also proved to be key to Honey Chandler’s operations, when he discovered her assistant, Matthew, was co-operating with the FBI in the Carl Rogers’ murder investigation. However, things start to go wrong for Bosch and Chandler’s go-to guy when he meets a mysterious woman called Jade at a hacker’s conference. They begin dating and Bassi helps to assist Jade with an issue she’s having with her ex-boyfriend, who is blackmailing her over some medical records. Mo obtains the files and hands the flash drive over to her, and solves her problem.

Unfortunately for Mo, Jade is an undercover FBI agent, who is trying to bring Bosch and Chandler down, and is using Mo to get to them.Agent William Baron (Anthony Michael Hall) wants to keep her undercover, and plans to offer Mo a more lenient sentence if he co-operates with them. The FBI end up raiding Mo’s apartment and arresting him. They claim Jade uses hackers to steal corporate secrets, and if Mo doesn’t give them information on Bosch and Chandler, they will take action against her.

Mo doesn’t rush to land Bosch and Chandler in trouble, and instead, tells Baron he needs time to think about it, and an official deal must be in place before anything happens. Is Mo just biding for time or is he really considering turning on Bosch and Chandler?

Will Mo Bassi turn on Bosch and Chandler in Bosch: Legacy season 3?

Maurice ‘Mo’ Bassi certainly has some soul-searching to do in Bosch: Legacy season 3, as he contemplates turning on Bosch and Chandler to save himself from prosecution. Mo has certainly put his neck on the line for his employers, and provided vital information that has led to solving the Whitney Vance case in season 1, and the Lexi Parks murder in season 2.

It goes without saying that he’ll be very much needed in season 3, to assist with the next case, but it’s unclear where his allegiances lie. The fact that he didn’t inform on Bosch and Chandler instantly when faced with prosecution, shows that he values his relationship with the pair, and won’t give them up easily.

Another factor in his decision-making could be Honey Chandler’s run for district attorney, which could see Mo protected by the legendary defense lawyer, and refuse to help the FBI. It’s quite possible Mo could hatch a plan with Bosch and Chandler to turn the tables on Agent Baron and his cohorts, and escape a prison sentence without having to help them.

It’s unlikely Mo Bassi will turn on Bosch and Chandler because he is an integral part of the show, and a series regular, as well as a fan favorite. He provides a very key role in moving the story along, with his abilities as a hacker, and without him, many of the cases wouldn’t be solved. Bosch: Legacy season 3 needs to build on characters like Mo Bassi, rather than dispatch them early on in the spin off’s run.

Stephen A. Chang was the solitary new season regular in Bosch: Legacy when it launched on Amazon Freevee in 2022, and there is a lot more to come from his character in season 3 and beyond.
