In the anime series That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime, Chosen Heroes are the counterparts of Demon Lords, which come about when a person is given a blessing from a light or dark elemental, or from the Elemental Queen. These individuals are known as Chosen Hero’s Eggs until they awaken into True Chosen Heroes.
True Chosen Heroes are often incredibly powerful warriors, prominent figures in history, or otherwise incredible people. Chloe Aubert’s story is easily one of the most complicated tales in the Slime chronology. Summoned into the Central World as a child, Chloe would come into the care of the Freedom Academy. Though she was fated to die due to the abundance of Magicules in her body, the intervention of Rimuru Tempest prolonged her life.
As a Chosen Hero, Chloe’s powers largely lie in controlling time. Her main ability, Time Traveler, allows her to send her memories back to a past version of herself. In this way, she has repeatedly looped through time in order to save Rimuru from death. She is easily one of the most powerful characters in the series, and her powers go far beyond her ability to manipulate time.
5 Hinata Sakaguchi
The Righteous Leader of the Saints
Much like Rimuru, Hinata Sakaguchi is an otherworlder summoned from modern-day Japan. Taken in by Shizue Izawa, Hinata was able to grow in strength thanks to her unique skill, Usurper, which allowed her to copy many of Shizue’s skills. She eventually found herself in the Holy Empire of Ruberios as the leader of the Holy Western Church’s Ten Great Saints, as well as a subordinate of Luminous Valentine, god of the Western Church and a Demon Lord in secret.
Aside from Luminous, Hinata is the strongest member of the Holy Western Church. Her power comes from being a Saint, a human who has become a spiritual lifeform, as well as her Usurper ability , which allows her to copy abilities with ease. A hero from ancient times, Granbell Rosso was once a righteous hero. He worked with Luminous Valentine to expand the Western Holy Church’s influence, and helped to establish the Clerics of the Seven Luminaries. Though he worked hard to establish peace in the world, the death of his wife ultimately sent him on a downward spiral, and he began a plan to establish the dominance of the Rosso family instead.
As a Former Chosen Hero, Granbell owned and utilized a variety of magical skills, particularly those involving holy magic. His unique skill, Sariel, grants him control over life, allowing him to manipulate the dead as well as the cycle of reincarnation.
2 Sarion Grimwald
A Former Hero Reborn As A Jester
An elf Chosen Hero, Sarion Grimwald was once a righteous warrior with a wife and daughter. He was killed in his fight against a Chaos Dragon, and was turned into an Undead Majin by Kagali. Having lost his memories of his past life, Sarion took on the identity of Laplace, the President of the Moderate Harlequin Alliance.
Despite no longer possessing his abilities as a Chosen Hero, Laplace remains one of the most dangerous existences in the Central World. Nevertheless, he has a tendency to rely on tricks and illusions over strength and skill, especially considering his unique skill Falsifier allows him to change how his opponents perceive reality. Combined with his other unique skill, Seer, which allows him to see the future, Laplace is an elusive figure indeed.
1 Masayuki Rudra Nam Ul Nasca
A Legendary Hero Reborn In The Present
Rudra Nam Ul Nasca was once the ruler of the Kingdom of Nasca, a great kingdom that existed in ancient times. Though he was once a righteous force, the tragedy of losing his sister and his best friend allowed his unique skill, Michael, to corrupt him. This forced him into an endless cycle of reincarnation that stripped away even his status as a Chosen Hero.
Over time, his wife Velgrynd attempted to recover Rudra’s lost soul fragments. This resulted in Rudra merging with Masayuki Honjo, Rudra’s reincarnation in modern Japan. Despite this fusion, Masayuki still lacks many of the memories of his past life as Rudra, though he has maintained several of his abilities, as well as his status as a True Chosen Hero.
