Engine, Explained
Tenya’s quirk, known as Engine, gives him the ability to use the engines on his calves to give him insane speed. Much like a car engine, Tenya is also able to control the level of speed. He is able to cover long distances in a minimal amount of time, which is useful when he needs to scour an area or get to a certain location quickly. He also has mufflers which protrude from his calves which can be removed, but the process of removing these mufflers has a good and bad side to it. The bad side being the pain associated with pulling out the mufflers from his calves. However, Tenya’s body is able to regenerate the mufflers and the positive to this is that the new mufflers are an improved version of the previous ones, giving him more power when utilizing his quirk. Tenya also has his own hero costume which enhances his quirk, his boots are equipped with a cooling device so that his engines do not overheat too quickly.
In battle, Tenya’s quirk is extremely useful as he is able to either use his quirk to zoom past or dodge enemy attacks and land powerful kicks by activating his engine mid-spin to execute a powerful kick combined with the power of his engine quirk. Tenya is also able to control his speed by changing gears. He is known to have 3 gears which allow him to control his speed. In order to further strengthen his quirk, just like athletes, Tenya takes part in hardcore running activities to increase his stamina, so he is able to run long distances without tiring out easily. With a special quirk like his, Tenya also has a special move, which is the general Engine boost, that gives him an average speed. Recipro Burst, Recipro Extend, and Recipro Turbo, on the other hand, give him even more levels of insane speed, each faster than the other, with Recipro Turbo being the highest, which is followed by the absolute highest speed Tenya is able to move at, which is known as Maximum speed.

Weaknesses and Disadvantages
Just like most quirks, Tenya’s engine quirk also comes with its fair share of weaknesses. One of them was if the mufflers were clogged or blocked, it could affect his quirk by slowing his speed significantly. Another weakness that comes with this quirk is, just like cars, Tenya’s engine also tends to overheat if overused or, in a worse-case scenario, explode. To keep himself energized, Tenya also needs to consume orange juice, which works as fuel. Also, when Tenya uses any one of his special moves such as Recipro Burst, he needs to give himself time to cool down so that he does not over-exert his quirk to the point of malfunction.
