My Hero Academia has grown to become a powerhouse of a franchise that has developed into many various mediums. From that manga, My Hero Academia has stretched into anime, films, and even video games like My Hero Ultra Rumble. The My Hero Academia movies that Bones’ Studio animated for fans all have turned out incredible, especially with the fascinating artwork that truly does the manga justice.
With multiple movies out there for fans of My Hero Academia to enjoy, the films must be watched in order, as they are all canon to My Hero Academia and take place within specific points in the manga’s timeline. All the films introduce new characters and villains while maintaining the same ‘feel’ as the original manga and anime, making them wonderful additions to My Hero Academia’s canonical timeline of events. And, although all the My Hero Academia movies are excellent, some of them are just better than others with their plots and brilliant fight scenes.

3 My Hero Academia: Two Heroes
Release Date |
July 5th, 2018 |

Runtime |
105 Minutes |
As the very first film to be introduced into the franchise, My Hero Academia: Two Heroes had a lot to live up to, concerning the extraordinary anime. Two Heroes takes place between seasons two and three of the anime, right before the Forest Training Camp arc. In Two Heroes, Izuku Midoriya travels with All Might to I-Island, an island full of attractions, things to do, and heroes. Once there, Deku meets many new faces, including Melissa Shield, the daughter of David Shield. After a while, it turns out that many of Class 1-A’s students are on I-Island for various reasons, including Bakugo, Kirishima, and Yaoyorozu.
When villains attack I-Island during an important get-together, All Might is captured and unable to fight against them to protect innocent lives, leaving the responsibility all up to Class 1-A students. Deku takes the lead and the rest of Class 1-A fight in a large building to help Deku and Melissa Shield reach the top to stop the villains and save David Shield. After doing just that, fans are granted access to view one of My Hero Academia’s greatest fight scenes of all time as Midoriya and All Might fight side by side against Wolfram, the main antagonist.
Though All Might’s power was close to failing him, the support of Midoriya helped the two heroes save the day, as well as David Shield. Two Heroes is an amazing anime film and allows fans to see All Might in action once more, as the hero doesn’t see too many fight scenes.
2 My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising
Release Date |
February 26th, 2020 |
---|---|
Runtime |
104 Minutes |
My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising is the second movie that Bones created, and was based on Horikoshi’s original ending for the My Hero Academia manga before changing it for the better. Heroes Rising takes place right after season four and before season five of the anime. In the movie’s opening, it is revealed that Midoriya and his friends are on Nabu Island for hero training and helping out the locals by acting as their own hero agency.
While most everything seemed bland and the team was getting bored, Midoriya becomes tasked with locating a missing boy but is eventually scolded by the boy’s sister for taking too long to find him. Later on in the film, the same boy, whose name is revealed to be Katsuma, tells Bakugo and Midoriya that a villain is attacking the island (which is revealed to be a lie performed by his sister Mahoro). After these events go down, Nine, the film’s main antagonist with a Quirk much like All For One, attacks Nabu Island and seeks out Quirks to steal. Nine easily defeats Bakugo and Midoriya both, of whom are sent to revitalize themselves at a local clinic.
After Katsuma helps Bakugo and Nidorina heal quickly with his Cell Activation Quirk, the two seek out Nine once again after strategizing with the rest of Class 1-A. Midoriya and Bakugo are eventually left to face Nine with Class 1-A and are pushed to the brink of defeat once more. But, in a desperate act of selflessness, Midoriya transfers One For All to Bakugo. With double One For All, Midoriya and Bakugo easily defeat Nine. In the aftermath, it’s revealed that Midoriya kept One For All and Bakugo lost it, making the moment a once-in-a-lifetime scene that fans may never experience again. One of Heroes Rising’s best features is its magnificent animation, especially with the final battle as Bakugo and Midoriya take on Nine for the last time. The plot itself is also amazing, and it is easy to see how Horikoshi planned on ending the show as Nine is a lot like All For One.
1 My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission
Release Date |
October 29th, 2021 |
---|---|
Runtime |
105 Minutes |
Released in 2021 as My Hero Academia’s third film, My Hero Academia: World Heroes’ Mission is regarded by many as the best My Hero film so far. World Heroes’ Mission takes place after season five and before season six, which means that Midoriya already has access to one of his new abilities, Black Whip. In World Heroes’ Mission, Midoriya and Class 1-A heroes are helping out a large task force with Humarise’s terroristic acts of taking away Quirks and murdering innocent civilians.
But, unfortunately for the task force, the bombs that Humarise had been boasting about are nowhere to be found, leaving the heroes scattered across the planet in search of the weapons. Todoroki, Bakugo, and Midoriya were all placed in Otheon City, where a heist had happened, and the heroes had to respond quickly. While one of the criminals was captured, Midoriya was still chasing after the other, who was holding an important-looking suitcase.
Midoriya eventually catches Rody, the criminal who had accidentally swapped his suitcase with another in the chase. When the police arrive at the scene, they start shooting to kill Rody and Midoriya, forcing Izuku to take Rody and escape. It is then revealed that Midoriya is (wrongfully) wanted for murder, and Rody is his accomplice. After a while with the two on the run, the two eventually figure out a bit of Humarise’s plans as the group attempts to capture Midoriya and Rody with the suitcase.
This leads to the two finding Humarise’s main base and leading an attack on it. After mowing through Humarise’s forces, Midoriya is left to confront Flect Turn, Humarise’s leader with the Quirk to reflect attacks. While Midoriya is heated by Flect Turn, the hero refuses to give up and eventually enacts One For All at 100% to power through Flect Turn’s Reflect Quirk and defeat him while Rody stops the bombs from going off. Like Heroes Rising, World Heroes’ Mission has fascinating animation and artwork that makes it so loved by fans. Humarise and the plot are also unique additions to My Hero Academia’s timeline, making it a prominent step outside the manga/anime.
