My Hero Academia: Strongest Villains Who Have Died, Ranked

When it comes to villains, the heroes in My Hero Academia actually did a good job keeping most of them alive. No matter how terrible the crimes, the heroes try their best to apprehend the antagonists, rather than outright killing them. That being said, there are still quite a few My Hero Academia villains who inevitably lose their lives during a battle.

To include as many candidates as possible, this list will feature characters from the main My Hero Academia series, the spin-off My Hero Academia: Vigilante series, and also original characters from the movies. With those in mind, these are the strongest villains in My Hero Academia who have met their demise, ranked based on their power.

7 High-End Nomus

Mass-Produced Murder Machines, Most Of Whom Were Defeated By Tomura

images/news/2024/6/27/my-hero-academia-mha-strongest-villains-died_1.jpg

  • First Appearance: Episode 87
  • Quirk: Super Regeneration, Rupture, Muscle Augmentation, and more
  • Last Appearance: Episode 120

Nomu is an artificial creature that was created from a human corpse, usually a criminal, that was bioengineered so that it can use multiple quirks. Due to the heavy burden that those quirks put on the brain, most Nomus end up as nothing more than a brainless yet powerful foot soldier. However, that is not the case at all with the High-End Nomus.

The High-Ends were created from the corpses of bloodthirsty villains, which made them not only way more powerful than a regular Nomu, but they were also able to hold up to six different quirks and retain some level of intelligence and personality of the original body. Five of these high-ends appeared during the raid on Kyudai’s secret laboratory, and they nearly killed Mirko (No. 5 pro hero) and gave Endeavor (No. 1 pro hero) a hard time. The pro heroes managed to kill some of them, but most of the High-Ends were disintegrated by Tomura, who awakens from his slumber at the time.

6 Stain

A Deranged And Idealistic Hero Hunter Who Was Defeated By All-For-One

  • First Appearance: Episode 24
  • Quirk: Bloodcurdle
  • Last Appearance: Chapter 401

Stain was one of the most unique villains in this series. Unlike regular villains, he was never interested in hurting innocent people or causing unnecessary destruction. Moreover, even though he lived up to his name as the “Hero Killer,” his targets include other villains as well. After all, his creed was to purge the world of fake heroes and villains who are only in it for the money and the fame.

Compared to the other villains on this list, Stain’s quirk was undoubtedly the weakest. After all, the only thing he could do with it was paralyze his opponents for a few minutes after ingesting their blood. What made him so terrifying, however, was his extraordinary combat instinct, his relentless attacks, his unquenchable bloodlust, and his unwavering determination to uphold his ideals. Stain spent most of the story imprisoned in Tartarus until he eventually escaped during the Paranormal Liberation War. He was later killed by All-for-One near the end of the Final War arc.

5 Twice

An Emotionally-Disturbed Bad Guy Who Was Defeated By Hawks

  • First Appearance: Episode 43
  • Quirk: Double
  • Last Appearance: Episode 116

Twice was one of the original members of the League of Villains. He was an easy-going and loyal person who wouldn’t hesitate to do anything that Shigaraki asked him to do. His quirk was called Double, and it allowed him to make clones of everything, including himself. This means Twice could become a one-man army if he wanted to, which was why fighting him was extremely tricky, even for high-ranking pro heroes like Hawk.

Underneath his jokes and easy-going nature, Twice was actually a broken man who suffered through severe depression, anxiety, and even borderline personality disorder all his life. Being in a League of Villains was actually what kept him sane all this time. He always considered fellow League members as part of his family, which was why Hawks’ betrayal hurt him so much. Twice unleashed the full might of his quirk in his battle with Hawk during the Paranormal Liberation War arc. He nearly succeeded in killing Hawks, but Twice eventually lost his life to the No. 2 Hero.

4 Number 6

A Chaotic And Unstable Villain Whose Body Couldn’t Handle His Power

  • First Appearance: Chapter 26 (My Hero Academia: Vigilantes)
  • Quirk: Overclock, Regeneration, Bombify, and more
  • Last Appearance: Chapter 123 (My Hero Academia: Vigilantes)

Number 6 was the main antagonist of My Hero Academia’s spin-off manga, My Hero Academia: Vigilantes. He was born with a severe case of Agnosia, which is the inability to recognize anyone or anything, including himself. This rare condition piqued the interest of Dr. Garaki and All-for-One, who thought that since the boy had no sense of self, they could mold him into whoever or whatever they want.

The rare condition that he suffered since birth, combined with growing up under the deranged teaching of All-for-One, made Number 6 not only cunning and ruthless but also impulsive and unstable. One moment, he can flawlessly execute a complex evil plan, but in the next moment, he would go on a manic killing spree. In My Hero Academia: Vigilantes, Number 6 became obsessed with the main protagonist, Koichi Himawari. They engaged in numerous battles throughout the series. In their final fight, Number 6 unleashes immense power beyond his control. Unfortunately for him, his body couldn’t keep up with that power, and he eventually exploded into tiny pieces.

3 Nine

A Ruthless Second-Class All-For-One Who Was Disintegrated By Shigaraki

images/news/2024/6/27/my-hero-academia-mha-strongest-villains-died_5.jpg

  • First Appearance: My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising
  • Quirk: Weather Manipulation, Air Wall, Hydra, and more
  • Last Appearance: My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising

Nine was the main antagonist of the second My Hero Academia movie, My Hero Academia: Heroes Rising. His quirk was Weather Manipulation, which was arguably one of the most powerful quirks in the series. Unfortunately, he had a fragile body that couldn’t handle the burden of his massive power. To fix that weakness and pursue his ambition to create a world ruled by the super-strong, Nine voluntarily became Dr. Garaki’s bioengineering experiment, and the result was quite spectacular.

Nine is the first person who can replicate All-for-One’s quirk-stealing ability. He could store eight different quirks (nine including his original one). One thing led to another, and he ended up having to fight Deku and Bakugo. It was an extremely difficult battle, but both young heroes eventually defeated the villain. Nine managed to escape by the skin of his teeth, only to be disintegrated by Shigaraki soon after.

2 Tomura Shigaraki

An Unhinged And Unpredictable Terror Who Was Defeated By Midoriya

  • First Appearance: Episode 8
  • Quirk: Decay, All-For-One
  • Last Appearance: Chapter 423

Tomura Shigaraki held quite a few titles during his lifetime. He was the leader of the League of Villains, the Grand Commander of the Paranormal Liberation Front, and the successor of All-for-One. He accidentally killed his own family when he was young, and his life has been nothing but suffering and tragedy ever since. Along the way, he developed a cynical and downright destructive view of the world. And the fact that he had one of the deadliest quirks also added to the reason why he was so dangerous.

Since the moment they met, Tomura Shigaraki developed an obsession with Izuku Midoriya. He considered the young hero as his counterpart and his nemesis, resulting in numerous life-threatening battles throughout the story. During the Final War arc, Shigaraki somehow managed to take control of All-for-One’s power. He wreaked an untold amount of damage and killed an ungodly amount of people. Midoriya and Bakugo nearly died trying to stop this maniacal villain. In the end, Midoriya managed to defeat Shigaraki by sacrificing the most important thing in his life. As his body disintegrated, Shigaraki looked into Midoriya’s eyes one last time and smiled.

1 All-For-One

The All-Powerful Overlord Who Was Defeated By Bakugo

images/news/2024/6/27/my-hero-academia-mha-strongest-villains-died_7.jpg

  • First Appearance: Episode 33
  • Quirk: All-For-One
  • Last Appearance: Chapter 423

Most of the heroes on this list have a reason or a motivation behind their actions. Some of them have a tragic past, like Twice and Shigaraki, while others were driven by their deranged ideals, such as Nine and Stain. That is not the case at all with All-for-One (AFO). He was born evil. He consumed his own mother when he was just a baby and started killing indiscriminately by the time he became a little boy. Once he realized that he could steal other people’s quirks, nobody could stop his murderous rampage. There was basically no time in his life when he was not evil.

From the creation of Nomus to grooming Shigaraki to be his successor, AFO prepared a lot of things to ensure he could live and terrorize the world for eternity. Unfortunately for him, there were still tons of heroes who were willing to sacrifice their lives to stop his vicious ambition. The two sides eventually collided in the Final War arc. It took a long time, and so many heroes lost their lives during the epic battle. Even the quirkless All Might joined the fight and nearly lost his life in the process. Fortunately, all of those little damages eventually stacked up and began to affect the evil overlord. In the end, the heavily injured Bakugo was the one who delivered the final attack, killing the evil mastermind. When Deku defeated Shigaraki soon after, every remnant of AFO was finally gone from the face of the earth.

Every villain featured on this list is strong and evil in their own way. However, none of them can be compared to the level of power and evil that AFO possessed during his life. That being said, they all have one thing in common: Their deaths mean that the world can become a safer and more peaceful place for everybody.
