The Big Mom Pirates were a yonko crew in the One Piece universe. They operated much differently than others since almost all of their members were biologically related to Big Mom herself. However, considering that many of them came from different countries and even races, the pirates were incredibly diverse.
This reflected in their design, which suggested their unique countries of origin and Big Mom’s personal goal to create a grand paradise where all people of the world could sit at the same table. The Big Mom Pirates may not have been the strongest, though their fashion sense was impeccable.
10/10 Opera Stood Out From His Siblings
Charlotte Opera was incredibly interesting given his unusual, viscous appearance. Butter secreted from his entire body, giving him the appearance that looked like he was constantly melting. What makes Opera especially interesting is that he does not have a Logia fruit.
Instead, his Paramecia is responsible for his entire body, much like Trebol of the Donquixote Family. Opera may not have been the strongest member of the Big Mom Pirates, although his peculiar presence made him stand out in the instances he appeared.
9/10 Bobbin Had A Rascally Design
Like Opera, Bobbin was among Big Mom’s most original pirates. His abstract mask gave a crude, shamanistic aesthetic that contrasted the rest of his clothing. Moreover, his wide rictus appropriately conveyed sinister intent and even his light, reverberating voice.
Perhaps Bobbin’s most clever feature was his wide, bulging eyes. It subtlety implied his hypnotic capabilities, which would later be shown against Luffy and Germa 66 throughout the arc. Should Bobbin have been given as much screen time as Big Mom’s stronger generals, he would have had a greater chance to show his potential.
8/10 Daifuku Had The Appearance Of A Sophisticated Criminal
Given his high ranking position in Big Mom’s army, Daifuku’s large presence made sense. His shoulders alone made him three times as wide as a typical Big Mom Pirate and arguably even more in comparison to an ordinary person.
Given Daifuku’s short hair and groomed mustache, he had the appearance of a well groomed and sophisticated criminal. His genie made his design even more interesting, as it appeared to be a spirit conjured from Haki even if it wasn’t. Daifuku’s tiny head was also an interesting design choice, as it made the rest of his body look even more massive in comparison.
7/10 Oven’s Design Conveyed His Anger Well
Charlotte Oven was one of the Big Mom Pirates’ most active members. His design conveyed savage aggression well; copious skin left little to the imagination and indicated him as a berserker.
Oven’s bright red outfit also complimented his power since it constantly gave him a fiery appearance. This allowed him to channel heat into his fist without garishly contrasting the rest of his uniform. The villain’s physique was also an intelligent design choice since he relied on raw strength almost as much as his Devil Fruit.
6/10 Smoothie Was An Undefeated Amazonian Warrior
Smoothie’s outfit balanced classiness with the raw power at her disposal. Her Amazonian build separated her from most of One Piece’s petite women and made her memorable for the screen time she had. Additionally, it helped to explain how Smoothie could use her Devil Fruit so effectively.
It would have been much more difficult to squeeze the fluid from an enemy’s body without having the strength to overpower them first. Given that Smoothie was the only Sweet General not to be defeated, she was the crew’s most underestimated member.
5/10 Pudding’s Third Eye Added Layers To Her Personality
Although most Big Mom Pirates have some form of physical eccentricity, it seldom played a role in the story. Pudding was an exception since her third eye made Big Mom disgusted with her.
This gave Pudding an inferiority complex and eventually made her loathe the rest of the world. She had become so used to hiding who she was that she assumed Sanji would think of her as a freak. When the Straw Hat Chef proved that her eye didn’t change a thing, Pudding instantly reconsidered her plans to kill him.
4/10 Tamago Had Two Different Designs
Tamago’s design was inherently interesting. His excessively long legs gave the aesthetic of a towering foe, even if they were connected to a stout body. The scar near his eye also suggested experience in battle, which was further substantiated through role his as Big Mom’s envoy.
After Pedro sliced Tamago to pieces, he “hatched” into an avian creature with just as much intelligence and even greater power. Unfortunately, Tamago did not have an opportunity to show the full extent of his new abilities and how his new form might influence his fighting style.
3/10 Mont-d’Or’s Appearance & Devil Fruit Were Striking
Charlotte Mont-d’Or’s appearance and role were striking. His bulbous body, skeletal clothing, clown-like visage, and long, pointed nose all gave the impression of a messy Halloween costume. Despite the villain’s goofy appearance, he proved himself as a capable leader of Big Mom’s forces.
For example, he helped to cut off the Thousand Sunny’s escape by communicating with the pursuing ships. Mont-d’Or was also directly responsible for capturing Luffy within the pages of his Book Book Fruit. Surprisingly, he accomplished what Big Mom and Katakuri could not.
2/10 Amande Was Chilling In Every Scene
Charlotte Amande’s expressionless features and clammy skin both reflected her sadistic nature. The woman took immense pleasure in carving opponents up as slowly as possible to such an extent that she even based her entire fighting style that way. Her triumph over Kingbaum was especially harrowing since she didn’t care that he was a former ally when torturing him.
The way Amande’s design informs her personality outshines most other members of the Big Mom Pirates. She was also one of the few female characters not to lazily resemble Nami, as her visage was far more static and insidious.
1/10 Katakuri’s Punk Outfit Made Him Whole Cake Island’s Rightful Antagonist
Everything about Katakuri’s design was well done. His bare chest suggested a background as a warrior, his spurs heralded his arrival with every step, and tight black leather portended that he was a man not to be taken lightly.
Katakuri’s best design was the shroud used the cover his mouth. It was effective since it helped to conceal his expressions as well as the deformity around his mouth. Like Pudding, Katakuri was self-conscious of his appearance due to being ridiculed over it in childhood.
