Jujutsu Kaisen went on a 2 week long break after chapter 244 and fans were left waiting in anticipation for chapter 245 of the series. The wait was certainly hard, however, the incredible fight and major revelations that took place in JJK chapter 245 were certainly worth all the waiting.
Fans were treated to some incredible fighting sequences from the beginning of the chapter and, later on, Higuruma’s Deadly Sentencing was focused on quite a lot. At the same time, other characters, such as Kusakabe, also ended up receiving some spotlight and, overall, JJK chapter 245 was more than impressive.
Hakari Vs Uraume Continues
Much to the surprise of the fans, JJK chapter 245 opened with an incredible fight between Hakari and Uraume. These two characters started their fight exactly around the time when Sukuna received his cursed tool. In fact, it was Uraume who delivered the cursed tool to him on a giant ice block. Hakari, who had promised to Kashimo that he would not let anyone interfere in his fight, decided to jump towards and fight against Uraume and this clash certainly was incredibly exciting. Hakari opened his domain immediately and trapped Uarume within, however, this domain ended up breaking as soon as Kashimo was dealt with and Yuji and Higuruma jumped into battle.
Fans did not see much of it in the previous chapter, however, at the beginning of JJK chapter 245, the battle between Hakari and Uraume was seen continuing. Uraume’s technique was focused on quite a lot and this power was revealed to be incredibly deadly. It was seen being capable of freezing Hakari within the blink of an eye, before he could even react or know what was going on. In fact, the true power of this cursed technique was revealed in this chapter when Hakari ended up losing his arm due to being frozen to the very bone. Uraume proceeded to break his arm off and, later on, deal more damage to his gut as well. However, Uraume was shocked when Hakari regenerated his arm a moment later.
In fact, the arm generation was so fast that Uraume couldn’t even catch up with the events and it was almost as if he didn’t lose it at all. According to Uraume themselves, Hakari’s usage of reverse cursed technique is much faster than the likes of Gojo and Sukuna and likely the very best in the JJK universe. With that, Hakari launched his counterattack and dealt a telling blow to Uraume, crushing them inside some buildings and also taking them away from the main battlefield in doing so.
Sukuna’s Trial Is Carried Out
Hakari versus Uraume was certainly an interesting addition to the chapter, but most of the fans were waiting to see Sukuna and Higuruma under the spotlight. This is because these two characters are at the center of things right now. In the previous chapter, Sukuna was seen being trapped inside Higuruma’s domain, where he would have to answer for all the crimes that he has committed. By becoming a co-defendant in the same case that was opened against Yuji, Higuruma planned on making him the real culprit for the massacre in Shibuya, along with other charges.
In Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 245, Higuruma brilliantly took center stage and declared that Yuji had only taken on the blame because of his strong sense of responsibility. The real culprit was none other than Sukuna. Higuruma then continued to explain the rules of Deadly Sentencing, however, Sukuna was absolutely not interested in hearing all that, given that he already knew how it functioned. Shockingly, Sukuna revealed that he was much more interested in seeing the Executioner’s Sword and admitted to every single crime that was put on him. This resolved things quicker than fans would have expected. Judgeman, the shikigami, passed a guilty verdict for Sukuna and, with that, Higuruma was equipped with the Executioner’s sword. Fans know that the sword is incredibly powerful and can kill in one blow and Sukuna himself was excited to see what it was capable of doing.
While getting the Executioner’s Sword was certainly a big boost for Higuruma, his main goal was to get Sukuna’s cursed technique confiscated. Confiscation certainly did come into effect in JJK chapter 245, however, not how Higuruma would have liked it. Instead of his cursed technique, Sukuna had his cursed tool being confiscated. Essentially, if a character has both a cursed tool and a cursed technique, it is the cursed tool that will get confiscated first. This is a bizarre rule that Gege has introduced for plot convenience and seems very cheap, no matter how fans look at it. Higuruma should have known about this and it just gives Sukuna another way to escape justice. As expected, Higuruma was utterly shocked when this happened and was open to the killing blow.
Sukuna Attacks Higuruma
Towards the end of JJK chapter 245, Sukuna launched a powerful attack on Higuruma and all those around him. Higuruma could very well have died here because he was not expecting this attack at all. According to his predictions, Sukuna should have had his cursed technique confiscated, however, that was not to be. Instead, Sukuna had his cursed tool taken away from him but his cursed technique, which was his primary weapon, remained. With that, he launched powerful slashes of Cleave and Dismantle towards his enemies and this required Kusakabe to step in and prevent Higuruma from being absolutely demolished by the powerful slashes that Sukuna launched.
At the same time, Ino appears to have joined the battle as well. This fight has now effectively turned from a two versus one battle to a four versus one and that certainly has the fans very excited. It also means that Sukuna will have more bodies to test his powers against and that is ominous for many characters, such as Higuruma himself. There were also death flags for characters such as Higuruma in the chapter, and it shouldn’t be a surprise to the fans if he or anyone else ends up dying in the upcoming chapter of the story.
This incredible battle in Shinjuku continues and fans will most definitely see Sukuna go all out in the upcoming chapter. Now that the trump card of using Higuruma to deal with Sukuna has effectively been lost, all hope rests on the Executioner’s Sword and, in the end, Yuji, if Higuruma fails to deal with Sukuna. This is likely going to be the highlight of the upcoming chapter of JJK and, at the same time, fans might even get a glimpse of the fight between Uraume and Hakari once again. With all things taken into consideration, it is clear for the fans to see that JJK is going to continue to ramp up the intensity and bring this incredible battle closer to its climax.
Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of JJK, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 246, is set to be December 24, 2023.
