This incredibly exciting story recently saw the battle between Yuta Okkotsu and Sukuna play out, and fans knew that it was going to have great consequences for the finale of the Shinjuku Showdown arc. As fans know, Yuta took control of Gojo’s body, while Sukuna had his domain reinvigorated. This battle was incredibly exciting, and at the same time, reached such a high intensity that fans got to witness a domain clash between these two characters as well.
Once again, Unlimited Void clashed against Malevolent Shrine, and it was certainly an incredibly exciting battle for the fans to witness. Now, however, this battle is officially over, and fans are holding their breaths, because Yuta’s fate is going to be revealed very soon.
Yuta Vs Sukuna Round 2
Yuta Took On Sukuna Using Gojo’s Body
It was a major shock for all the readers when Gojo’s body arrived on the battlefield once again. This was a massive turning point for both the fans and Sukuna as well. It was almost impossible for Gojo to be on the battlefield and many believed that Gojo had essentially come back to life in one way or another. However, it was later revealed that it was none other than Yuta who had taken control of Gojo’s body. Fans must remember that Yuta was the one who killed Kenjaku, and as a result, he could gain his cursed technique by having Rika consume part of him. When that happened, Yuta used his technique to gain access to Gojo’s body. He then utilized Gojo’s body to return to the battlefield, where he fought against Sukuna. Immediately after he arrived on the battlefield, fans got to see an exciting domain clash, where Unlimited Void was opened by Yuta immediately afterwards. Meanwhile, Sukuna opened Malevolent Shrine as well.
Fans knew that this domain clash was going to be incredibly exciting, and it is safe to say that it lives up to all expectations. For one, Yuta showcased his incredible control over barrier techniques by shrinking his domain to the size of a basketball, just as Gojo did. He did this to reinforce the outer barrier of his domain, and protect it from the hits from Malevolent Shrine. Meanwhile, Sukuna shrunk his malevolent Shrine range as well to strengthen the effect of his hits from the outside. For Yuta, the plan was to reinforce Unlimited Void from the outside and attempt to injure Sukuna to a point where he could not maintain Malevolent Shrine anymore. Meanwhile, for Sukuna, the goal was to relentlessly attack the barrier of Unlimited Void from the outside and then expand his domain to a point where he could simply eradicate everyone in a single shot.
Yuta’s Cursed Technique Exhaustion
Yuta Made Use Of His Cursed Technique But Ran Out Of Time
A domain battle between these two characters was always going to be incredibly exciting, and it certainly proved to be just that. Yuta and Sukuna engaged in hand-to-hand combat inside, and both held the upper hand at one point or another. However, as the battles prolonged, it became increasingly clear to witness that Yuta was actually not used to Gojo’s body or his techniques at all. Gojo is Gojo, and Yuta was simply someone in his body. This difference in both experience as well as skill was very apparent and it gave Sukuna the upper hand in the battle. In fact, had it continued similarly inside, Yuta would have lost and Malevolent Shrine would essentially have eradicated everyone.
However, Gojo’s body was not Yuta’s only ally in the battle. He made use of his incredible wit, and essentially utilized a transmitter to channel Inumaki’s voice to Sukuna. Inumaki then used cursed speech to order Sukuna to not move, and this ended up being a brilliant move. Then, fans got to see Yuta prepare a powerful Hollow Purple and launch this attack on Sukuna.
In JJK chapter 263, it was clear for the fans to see that this attack connected, however, it was clearly not as powerful as Gojo’s Hollow Purple, which is why Sukuna was still alive.
Still, it shattered Malevolent Shrine, and with it, the barrier of Unlimited Void as well. Both Yuta and Sukuna came crashing out of the domain, and the former had actually sustained quite a lot of heavy burns. At the same time, Sukuna lost his ability to utilize cursed technique for a short while, giving Yuta the upper hand in the battle. However, just as he planned on collaborating with Yuji and Todo to relentlessly attack Sukuna with a barrage of Purple, that is precisely when he collapsed onto the battlefield. This was a shocking scene for the fans to witness, as they expected Yuta to last at least 5 minutes, which is the duration of his Copy technique, as Rika is fully manifested. Unfortunately for him, the incredible amounts of cursed energy being utilized likely meant that his technique ran out sooner than expected, and this caused him to collapse on the floor.
What Will Happen To Yuta Okkotsu Now?
Yuta Okkotsu Is On Death’s Door In JJK
As mentioned by Yuta Okkotsu himself, the cursed technique that he was utilizing, Body Hopping, which belonged to Kenjaku, was no longer in effect. This was simply down to the fact that Yuta exuded way too much cursed energy, and now, Rika cannot be manifested fully. This also means that he cannot utilize the copied technique as he would like. Essentially, the implication here is that this is the end of the road for Yuta. But, fans will be interested in seeing what happens to him next.
Curiously enough, there is a way out for Yuta here. Essentially, other possibilities are just two. Either Yuta dies a slow death in this body, or, he is saved in one way or another. Given that the author has killed off quite a few characters already, the chances of Yuta dying here are low. This is especially true because Yuta is a next generation sorcerer who the author would ideally want to be the face of the series, especially at the end. As such, fans can consider the possibility of Yuta surviving more than him dying. Of course, this would still need to make sense, and in JJK chapter 263, the author provided the perfect way for this to work.
In the previous chapters, fans clearly saw that Angel was summoned by Todo using his Boogie Woogie. Angel Unleashed Maximum Output Jacob’s Ladder on Sukuna, and this should be enough to defeat the King of Curses, and force him to trigger the merger, at the very least. However, this technique also means great things for Yuta. Currently, his soul is inside Gojo’s body. This body has two souls, and although they’re not mixing, they are still there. Yuta’s soul can be freed from Gojo’s body using Jacob’s Ladder, as it is going to cleanse this body for good. This essentially means that Yuta can actually go back to his own body, or simply pass away.
The chances for him going to his own body are there using Jacob’s Ladder and this would essentially free up Gojo’s body as well. This would mean that Yuta can actually come back to his life using his own body, and Gojo potentially rejoining the battle At the same time, this also means exciting things for Gojo, as he could potentially come back to life following Yuta being removed from his body. Now, his body is fully reattached, and at the same time, his cursed energy reinvigorated as well. Both Yuta and Gojo have a chance of returning here, and it will be interesting to see how the author tackles this later down the line.
Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of JJK, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 264, is set to be July 28, 2024.
