Though a lot of the My Hero Academia story revolves around Deku and the rest of Class 1-A, many other characters gradually integrate into the plot as it goes on. Some are students around the same age as Class 1-A, but other heroes and villains are quite a bit older than the main crew. Many of these individuals are Pro Heroes who have slowly worked their way up the ranks, and as a result, they possess an unlimited amount of wisdom that they can share with aspiring youngsters.
For the villains though, those who are older tend to be people struggling to corrupt the world for much of their lives, due to their own personal reasons and beliefs. Either way, there have been plenty of fascinating mature characters throughout My Hero Academia, with these being the oldest of the bunch.
6 Power Loader
Age: 40
Higari Maijima, also commonly known as Power Loader, is one of the older Pro Heroes who prefers to spend time on his own crafting and altering mechanical suits and weapons rather than hanging out with his comrades. Higari’s Quirk, Iron Claws, grants him sharp and lethal metallic claws which he can either use to strike the enemy with or to dig underground as part of a surprise flank attack.
He’s also responsible for the U.A. costume development, which explains why his suit is so over-the-top and detailed. Not much is known about Higari’s past, but given his age, it’s highly likely he’s been in his fair share of battles with many villains over the years. What is made clear though is that he’s more than happy to pass on what he’s learned to the younger generations to bring forth a new wave of brave heroes to protect the world from evil.
5 Ectoplasm
Age: 41
He may be a Pro Hero, but at first glance, Ectoplasm can look more like a villain considering how creepy he looks, especially with that sadistic grin that never leaves his face. During the average school day, Ectoplasm can be found teaching mathematics to his students, but when trouble arises, he is always one of the first to enter the frontlines where he can use his army of clones to deal with any villains who may be considered a threat.
Ectoplasm’s Quirk makes him an incredibly valuable asset, especially during the Final War, where he’s able to form multiple clones to keep a close eye on the ongoing situation, while simultaneously duking it out with the enemy at the same time. While trying to become a fully-fledged hero, Ectoplasm lost both of his legs after encountering a dangerous villain on the streets, but he’s since pushed through his grief and is now one of the strongest and wisest Pro Heroes in all of U.A.
4 Endeavor
Age: 45
Much of Endeavor’s past life has been documented throughout the story of My Hero Academia. By the time he reached 20 years old, he had already become the number two Pro Hero on the Hero Billboard Chart, but his meteoric rise to success ground to a halt when he failed to take the number one position away from All Might. Realizing he couldn’t achieve this himself, Endeavor would go on to negotiate a Quirk Marriage where he hoped to bring a child into the world who could one day surpass All Might with their mixture of Quirk powers.
It’s fair to say that the next few years for Endeavor were an emotional rollercoaster. The “death” of Endeavor’s favorite son, Toya, made him a cruel and cold father who took out all of his anger on his other son, Todoroki, who would soon come to disdain his father for his abusive actions. Endeavor does eventually come to see the error of his ways later in the story, and it’s fascinating to see how these experiences have molded him into the man he is today.
3 All Might
Age: 50+
All Might’s age isn’t ever specifically stated in the series itself, but considering he met Nana Shimura when he was roughly 14 years old and held onto One For All for 40 years, it would make him at least 54 years old. This also fits in with All Might’s reputation, as he is often referenced as having been the city’s shining light of hope for quite a long time, so being this age in the main story would mean he’s had a good amount of time to prove his worth to the people he’s protecting.
Because everyone looks up to All Might as a heroic role model, he always tries to hide his doubts and insecurities behind all the smiles and jokes in an attempt to show the people what they want to see. With that being said, he’s still an absolute powerhouse who’s more than capable of wiping out groups of villains thanks to his large stature and powerful abilities, so even though he may be on the older side, this doesn’t mean he should be taken lightly in a fight.
2 Gran Torino
Age: 65+
Gran Torino was once a Pro Hero who would eventually go on to become the mentor of All Might during his time teaching at U.A. Therefore, while he’s another character whose age isn’t verified in the canon, many fans presume this witty and sarcastic hero is roughly in his mid-60s by the time Midoriya trains with him. Age hasn’t seemed to slow Gran Torino down one bit though, as he’s still just as chirpy as ever and can easily outmaneuver his opponents thanks to his lightning-fast movements, which he’s gained from the Jet Quirk.
Though he can often act very jovial and carefree, it’s revealed that Torino has had far from an easy life. After forming a close bond with Nana during his younger years, he would be forced to watch his close friend sacrifice herself so that he could escape from the clutches of One For All. Torino has always struggled to get over this loss, and it means he’s always carried with him a bubbling hatred for the master of all villains.
1 All For One
Age: 100+
All For One was born before Quirks were even known to exist within the My Hero Academia universe. Despite this, it didn’t take long for him to master his own Quirk, All For One, which allowed him to steal the abilities of others. While he did grow up with a younger brother, the two would slowly start to grow apart due to their different outlooks on how Quirks should be used within society, and how much value they should be given. After becoming obsessed with a comic book villain by the name of the “Demon Lord King,” All For One would take it upon himself to steal as many Quirks as possible, granting him an immense amount of power and influence, until eventually, he became the ruler of Japan.
The mastermind villain would go on to make a lot of enemies during his reign of terror, especially Kudo, who was a resistance leader hell-bent on taking down All For One by any means necessary. By the time All For One shows up in the story, he’s already well over 100 years old and has been in a constant back-and-forth with All Might, with the two regularly pushing one another to their limits in battle.
