One Piece chapter 1110 delivered on every expectation of the fans, and showcased the incredible might of the Five Elders in full flow. All the Five Elders were focused on quite a lot in One Piece chapter 1110, and just as fans expected, their Yokai transformations were finally revealed.
Every single one of the Yokai has proven to be absolutely incredible, both in terms of design as well as power so far. One individual that quite a lot of fans have been wondering about is Saint Marcus Mars, whose Yokai is called the Itsumade. The Itsumade was revealed to be a massive bird Yokai the powers of which might surprise the fans.
Saint Marcus Mars Arrives On Egghead
One Piece chapter 1110 opened with a spectacular scene of Saint Saturn summoning all the remaining Gorosei on Egghead Island. The summoning process was started towards the end of the previous chapter, and in this chapter, Saturn successfully assembled all of them on Egghead. As they emerged from their summoning circles, all of them took to their Yokai transformations. This wasn’t a surprise to the fans, as Saturn himself emerged out of his summoning circle using his new form.
Curiously, Oda did not mention any of the Five Elders having a Devil Fruit power. Instead, he simply revealed the Yokai ability that the Five Elders possessed. This might actually be a hint towards the Five Elders having the power of these monsters without actually consuming a Devil Fruit. It is quite a popular idea at this point that the Five Elders gained their powers without consuming a Devil Fruit and that their transformations are actually of demonic origins.
While it hasn’t been explained as to how they got their transformations, the idea that they received them without actually having Devil Fruit powers is very strong at this point in time. Saint Marcus Mars, who is one of the Elders, also has a powerful Yokai based transformation, and his beast is called the Itsumade. In One Piece chapter 1110, Marcus Mars emerged from his summoning circle and immediately transformed into the Itsumade, giving the fans a proper look at his Yokai form which was first teased during Sabo’s Reverie flashback.
What Is The Itsumade Yokai?
When speaking of the Itsumade yokai, one might wonder as to what the beast actually is. Simply put, the Itsumade is a Yokai from Japanese folklore, specifically from the Konjaku Gazu Zoku Hyakki by Toriyama Sekien. The Itsumade is described to be a giant serpentine bird-like creature with parts of various animals. The body of this beast is said to be of a serpent, while the wings appear to be that of a bird. The face of this bird appears to be a mix with that of a human, with a bent beak, and sharp fang-like teeth. The Itsumade is a very powerful creature and, it is said that in mythology, it appears when an epidemic strikes, or when corpses are rotting on the ground. Then goes on to say “Itsumade…Itsumade,” Which loosely translates to “for how long.” In this context, the Itsumade asks as to how long the corpses will stay rotting on the ground.
Curiously enough, the Itsumade doesn’t have any powerful abilities attached to it, unlike the Gyuki. In the case of the Gyuku, fans could tell what powers Saturn will showcase, because Gyuki is one of the most popular Yokai, and has been heavily covered over the years in many media. In the case of the Itsumade, however, this is not the case. As such, predicting its ability is harder.
Saint Marcus Mars’s Itsumade Yokai Power
Saint Marcus Mars possesses the beastly power of the Itsumade, and this ability allows him to transform into a giant bird, as well as a bird-human hybrid at will. He was seen transforming into this creature in One Piece chapter 1110, and this transformation looked absolutely majestic. The very first thing when it comes to the power of this beast that fans noticed was its immense speed. The Itsumade was immediately able to get from its summoning circle all the way to the Labophase in the blink of an eye. The beast then flew towards the Labophase at blinding speed, attempting to penetrate it. While the Frontier Dome certainly protects the Labophase, that doesn’t mean that creatures can’t pass through it.
The vast majority will die, however, certain individuals can pull it off. For instance, Luffy actually passed through the Frontier Dome twice and while this injured him, he still managed to do it. If Luffy could pass through the Frontier Dome, then the chances for Mars to pass through in his Itsumade yokai form are also there. This is especially true because the Itsumade is known to hold tremendous speed.
Of course, the Itsumade will most likely sustain injuries from doing this. However, just like Saturn, he most likely has an overpowered regeneration ability. That would mean any damage that he sustains is pointless as he has it in him to recover in the blink of an eye.
Being a yokai-based transformation, fans can tell that the strength, speed, and recovery rate of this creature are going to be out of this world. However, every Yokai has an ability assigned to them, and in the case of the Itsumade, it is likely going to be the power to spread an epidemic. This might be due to the fact that it appears when there is an epidemic and corpses are rotting.
How Strong Is Marcus Mars’s Itsumade Yokai?
When taking into consideration everything that the fans know about Marcus Mars and his power, it is quite clear for the fans to see that he is among the elite fighters in the One Piece world. It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that he is among the Yonko-level characters in the story, given everything that he has up his sleeve. Fans must not forget that Saturn was able to take several Gear 5 attacks without actually sustaining any damage. The same would be the case for Marcus Mars and his Itsumade transformation.
At the same time, Mars is also a very powerful user of Haki, and this was confirmed to the fans in One Piece chapter 1110, where Zorro and Lucci both called the Haki of the Five Elders to be very powerful. All that, when combined with his impeccable Yokai power, makes him one of the strongest individuals in the entire story.
The Itsumade surely has a lot more to offer, since fans only got a glimpse of his powers in One Piece chapter 1110. Oda will most definitely reveal more of its powers in the upcoming chapters, especially if the Itsumade manages to pierce through the Frontier Dome of the Labophase and attacks the Straw Hat Pirates.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1110, is set to be March 17, 2024.
