Roronoa Zoro has enjoyed his fair share of battles in the Egghead arc of One Piece. With each passing battle, Zoro has shown that he is capable of fighting at the highest level. His latest small skirmish came against one of the members of the Five Elders, and it was one that required him to be at his very best.
Recently, in One Piece chapter 1117, Zoro traded blows with none other than Saint Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro, and in an attempt to stop him, he had to use a very old attack, which was also powered up by quite a lot. This attack is the Sukhavati Bliss Rashomon, a newer version of the old Rashomon technique that Zoro utilized in One Piece.
What Is The Rashomon Technique?
The Rashomon Is A Two-Sword Style Draw Technique
Rashomon is a two-sword style drawing technique that Zoro utilized before the timeskip for the very first time. Fans saw this technique being utilized on various occasions, such as when Zoro was on his way to Nico Robin in the Water 7 Saga. There, Zoro had to chop a sea train carriage in half and he certainly did that with utter perfection utilizing the Two Sword Style Rashomon technique. Out of the Two-sword Style techniques, Zoro’s Rashomon is certainly the grandest of all. It is also one of the techniques that he often uses with his swords to cut through steel. The steel carriage was easily chopped up by Zoro when he utilized this technique, and of course, the effects of this technique are incredibly cool as well.
Bring on the hardship. It’s preferred in a path of carnage.
The Rashomon technique was also utilized by Zoro on many other occasions in One Piece. However, ever since the timeskip, Zoro has not utilized this technique at all. Zoro once again tapped into the power of Rashomon One Piece Chapter 1117. It is safe to say that the Rashomon technique sees Zoro focus incredibly hard in an attempt to chop through whatever he bypasses using a drawing technique. This essentially means that Zoro does not fully unsheath his swords, yet is able to chop through whatever he is looking to cut. On some level, this technique might see the usage of Ryuo, since it is based around the concept of cutting through anything, even things as hard as steel. This technique was certainly one of Zoro’s grandest before the timeskip, and now, it has certainly elevated his post-timeskip arsenal of weapons as well.
The Sukhavati Bliss Rashomon
Zoro Has Upgraded His Old Rashomon To New Levels
In the Egghead Island Arc, when Zoro was about to leave the Labophase of the island, he decided to utilize a new technique to stop Nusjuro. The goal for Nusjuro was to chop the ship of the Straw Hat Pirates in half. He would have essentially killed all the members of the crew that were on board the ship, along with Vegapunk Lilith as well. However, in the nick of time, Jinbe saw to it that Zoro reached his target. He used incredible physical strength to hurl Zoro at blazing-fast speeds. Meanwhile, in the air, Zoro unsheathed his swords completely, and used a new technique called Sukhavati Bliss Rashomon. This technique differs from Zoro’s usual Rashomon in some ways.
Convey my will to this blade. Now let’s see if I am able to cut steel.
For one, Zoro doesn’t hold his swords in their sheath when using this technique. It is not a draw technique anymore. Both of Zoro’s blades are completely out while utilizing this technique, which essentially explains why this has a different name as well. When Zoro used this technique, he was able to clash evenly with Nusjuro. Though, it must be said that Nusjuro did not retaliate with a powerful attack of his own; he simply blocked Zoro’s sword with one hand and there was a clash of Haki between these two powerful individuals.
The force behind Zoro’s technique was such that Nusjuro was sent flying back, and Zoro was sent flying by Nusjuro’s block as well. However, in reality, Zoro’s technique wouldn’t be enough to push him back on its own. This is simply down to the fact that Zoro was powered up by Jinbe quite a lot.
His attack had a lot of force behind it because of Jinbe, and essentially, the combined attack of these two individuals was what pushed Nusjuro back. Still, this technique was incredibly dangerous and even impressed one of the Elders, which is what makes it truly special.
Another aspect of this technique that is truly special is that it sees Zoro channel his Haki into his blades. Before the timeskip, when Zoro utilized Rashomon, he never channeled Haki through his blades. Now, Zoro is a master of all types of Haki, and essentially, he can boost the power of all of his attacks greatly.
Does Zoro’s New Rashomon See The Usage Of Conqueror’s Haki?
Sukhavati Bliss Rashomon Is Powered By Conqueror’s And Armament Haki
Now, Zoro is a user of all three types of Haki. This means that whenever he can, he will make use of his strongest Haki types, especially when he’s going up against an Elder. It can be assumed that Zoro certainly did use Conqueror’s Haki while trying to attack Nusjuro. Black sparks were flying around in this clash, and it can be safely said that Zoro reinforced his swords with Conqueror’s Haki as well as Armament Haki. The same can be said for Nusjuro as well.
With both Conqueror’s and Armament Haki, Zoro’s attack power must have been absolutely immense. This also explains why Zoro was able to hold his own against Nusjuro’s block, and, thanks to Jinbe’s force, was able to push the Elder back. While this is an exciting attack, it is certainly not Zoro’s strongest. This technique doesn’t see him utilize his Three Sword Style, and of course, there are many better attacks that Zoro has up his arsenal that can give Nusjuro a headache as well. Of course, fans still need to keep in mind that despite Zoro and Jinbe both being there, they are not strong enough to take down an Elder by themselves. In fact, Nusjuro should easily be able to deal with them without much difficulty at all.
Neither Zoro nor Jinbe are ready to take on an Elder and that much should be a given. Still, both of them did incredibly well in One Piece chapter 1117, as they combined to stop an Elder, with Jinbe utilizing a new Fishman Karate throw, and Zoro pulling out a completely new version of the Rashomon for the first time after the timeskip. This only adds to Zoro’s wide array of sword attacks and sees to it that he keeps on developing his old techniques, all the while learning newer ones as well. Hopefully, fans can get a couple more clashes in the next chapter of One Piece before the Straw Hat Pirates make their grand escape from Egghead. This fight should wrap up in the next few chapters, and while there is no time for an elaborate fight with Nusjuro, fans might get a few clashes to enjoy here and there.
One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1118, is set to be June 23, 2024.
