A new short trailer for Kaiju No. 8’s anime adaptation gives fans a taste of what’s to come.
Toho Animation has published a promotional trailer for the forthcoming Kaiju No. 8 anime, which includes studio and release date details. The production and animation for Kaiju No. 8 will be handled by Production I.G of Psycho-Pass, Ghost in the Shell, and Haikyu!!, while Studio Khara will concentrate on the kaiju design and artwork. Khara is most known for his work on the Evangelion franchise. The trailer also stated that the science fiction anime will launch in 2024.
Accompanied by a sleek rock beat, the video opens up to torrential downpour with the focus on a puddle of water. Suddenly, it trembles as if something very large and very heavy just hit the ground. The Japanese scenery is desolate with broken windows and empty streets — except for one man. With his back facing the audience and a cleaning apparatus casually perched on his shoulder, main character Kafka Hibino stands in front of a landscape filled with destroyed buildings slumping into the ground. A monster, shrouded in mist, is then seen standing on top of rubble. The menacing kaiju turns around, green-blue eyes glowing faintly.
