In Jujutsu Kaisen, The Prison Realm Escape of Gojo Might Remind You of Some Tragedy

Gojo and Geto Suguru, his one and only friend and closest companion, were inseparable as students. Together, the two were at their most powerful, but everything changed when they were unable to save Riko Amanai’s life. While the two were successful in escorting Riko and her guardian Misato Kuroi to Jujutsu High without incident, Gojo became more vulnerable to assault after spending days fending off adversaries using his cursed technique. The Sorcerer Killer, Toji Fushiguro, struck at this time. Toji sneaked up on Gojo and told Geto to save Riko and Misato while he fought the assassin himself, but this was fatal.

The strongest sorcerer in the upcoming animated “Gojo’s Past” arc suffered a serious loss after a mission gone wrong, and it completely altered his life. His childhood came to an abrupt end when he lost his best friend and a large number of peers because he was too slow to save everyone. Given what transpired in the “Shibuya” and “Culling Game” arcs of Jujutsu Kaisen, Gojo might experience a similar outcome in the future.

As a student, Gojo was inseparable from Geto Suguru, his one and only closest friend. The pair were at their strongest together, but everything changed when they failed to save the life of Riko Amanai. While the duo managed to escort Riko and her guardian Misato Kuroi safely to Jujutsu High, days of fending off enemies with his cursed technique activated left Gojo more susceptible to attack. This is when the Sorcerer Killer, Toji Fushiguro, struck. After Toji snuck up on Gojo, he encouraged Geto to get Riko and Misato to safety while he took on the assassin himself, but this ended fatally.

By the time Gojo had recovered, Toji had already killed Riko and Misato, and Geto’s will had completely crumbled. Even after the horrible murder, the fallout from this incident persisted; Geto’s downward spiral caused him to betray Gojo, while all of his classmates either gave up on Jujutsu or underwent permanent change. In order to cope with losing everything he had known, Gojo became a teacher at Jujutsu High to prevent the next generation from suffering a similar fate. However, he might leave the Prison Realm only to witness a repetition of the past.

Gojo Might Lose Everyone Once More

If Gojo doesn’t escape the Prison Realm soon, he may once again be too late to save those he cares about. He is very fond of his students, and his peers are the only friends the sorcerer really has, so the events of the “Shibuya” arc alone will be a lot for Gojo to face. He got trapped by Kenjaku early in the battle, and the events that ensued were blood-curdling to say the least. Both Nobara Kugisaki and Nanami Kento are dead, as well as the Principal of Tokyo Jujutsu High, Masamichi Yaga. On top of this, Inumaki lost his left arm during Sukuna’s rampage, which also killed thousands of innocent people. However, this isn’t all Gojo will be met with if he ever makes it out.

After Shibuya, Maki Zenin killed the entire Zenin Clan and has become a mirror of Toji — the man who caused Gojo’s first downfall. Likewise, his students have entered the Culling Games in an attempt to save him but are well out of their depth. Panda already has lost his body in battle, leaving him as a head being carried around by third-year Kinji Hakari. Yuta is fighting multiple enemies at a time in the Sendai Colony, while Yuji Itadori and Megumi Fushiguro are being consistently ambushed in Tokyo Colony 1.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s upcoming chapters may see Gojo escape the Prison Realm only to find a life where many of his friends and students are dead, injured or permanently changed — just like in his past. Back then, he was unable to stop tragedy from unfolding, but hopefully this time he’ll be fast enough to avoid a similar fate.
