Highlights

  • Shanks proves his strength by defeating Eustass Kid with ease, showcasing his unparalleled power in the One Piece world.
  • Shanks’ mastery of all three types of Haki, especially Conqueror’s Haki, sets him apart as the clear winner over Mihawk.
  • Oda leaves no doubt that Shanks stands alone at the top, with superior abilities and a track record of impressive feats.

One of the biggest ongoing debates within the One Piece community revolves around Shanks and Dracule Mihawk. The two characters have been rivals for decades, and, according to the statements of various notable characters, the battles between them were legendary.

However, the rivalry between Mihawk and Shanks came to a premature end when the latter lost his arm in East Blue. This caused Mihawk to lose interest in the competition, but they remained friends. While the feud between the characters is over, fans of both characters refuse to stop talking about it. But it seems that One Piece Episode 1112 finally ended the debate for good.

Shanks Obliterates Eustass Kid

Beating An Opponent With A Bounty Of 3 Billion Berries

The episode focused on Shanks’ clash with Eustass Kid. The two were previously embroiled in a feud, which started when Kid tried to attack the Red Hair Pirates. The decision turned out to be a complete disaster, as Kid was beaten up horribly and ended up losing his left arm. After being beaten black and blue, Kid strongly resented the Red Hair Pirates, which is why he was more than excited to test his mettle again.

Kid was waiting on his ship when Shanks’ allies began to circle him, hoping to stop the Supernova from reaching the Yonko. However, Kid was not pleased to see them as they were nobodies; his mind was completely focused on their chief. Enraged by their behavior, Eustass Kid used his Jiki Jiki no Mi to form a massive canon. He was certain that Damned Punk would be potent enough to take out the ships and Shanks. The Yonko was still on the island when he used his Future Sight to learn what would happen if Kid used the attack.

Shanks saw all the ships being destroyed and people in pain, so he rushed toward Kid’s location and used Divine Departure to knock him out. The attack’s power sent Kid flying and took out Killer, another powerful fighter. With Kid and Killer unable to continue, the rest of the crew members gave the Road Poneglyphs to Shanks in exchange for letting them live. The Yonko took them, and his departure was followed by Dorry and Brogy’s Hakoku Sovereignty, which destroyed the Victoria Punk.

Shanks’ Power

The Yonko Is Unparalleled In Terms Of Strength

Shanks’ victory over Kid proves that the Yonko is in a league of his own. Even a pirate with a bounty of 3 billion berries was unable to scratch, which says a lot about his strength. Additionally, it is important to remember that Shanks’ attack took out both Kid and Killer. In comparison, it took a while for Big Mom to seriously harm the young pirates. This isn’t the only evidence that proves Shanks is superior to Mihawk.

Before the Summit War, Shanks went to Moby Dick and clashed with Whitebeard, which caused the skies to split. Shanks wasn’t afraid to speak his mind, nor did he try to run away from the place. In Marineford, Mihawk was wary of Whitebeard, and he even launched an attack to measure the strength between the Yonko and the rest of the fighters. Mihawk was stopped by Vista in Marineford, which also raised big question marks over the former’s strength.

Shanks stopped Akainu’s magma-enhanced attack with his sword without any problems. On his way to Marineford, Shanks prevented Kaido from interfering with the war. While fighting Luffy, Kaido compared the young pirate to Shanks and the other elite fighters, who are capable of hurting him. Moving on to the more recent events, Shanks was able to stop Admiral Ryokugyu without fighting. The Yonko simply unleashed a burst of Conqueror’s Haki, causing Ryokugyu to run away in fear. Mihawk has shown no such ability that would allow him to beat an Admiral so effortlessly.

The Clear Winner

Shanks Stands Alone At The Top

Shanks has access to all three types of Haki, and he can even use the advanced versions. His Conqueror’s Haki lets him stop opponents from using Observation Haki, leaving them vulnerable to incoming attacks. Mihawk may have the edge when it comes to sword skills, but it is not enough to win fights. Shanks wields a sword, but his Haki is vastly superior to Mihawk’s. In fact, he is currently the best Haki user in One Piece.

If one were to use this logic for every character, this would mean that Mihawk would also be superior to the likes of Ethanbaron V. Nusjuro, Big Mom (she used Napoleon), and Figarland Garling. This, of course, is a ridiculous claim. So far, all the evidence points to Shanks being superior to Mihawk, and if that still isn’t enough, Oda will clear all doubts in the Final Saga of One Piece.
