  • Todo’s swapping technique leads to an unexpected ally, Hana, unleashing a powerful attack on Sukuna.

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 263 continued the battle against Sukuna and it certainly delivered an exciting clash. Fans were expecting the fight between Yuta and Sukuna to be a short one, given that there was a strict time limit placed on this duel, and this chapter saw it come to an end, finally. While the result wasn’t what fans had expected and, in many ways, underwhelming, there were still a ton of exciting events across the chapter that fans came to love.

What’s more, the final act of the chapter was absolutely sensational and set up the King of Curses for his great fall once again. All that and much more was tackled in JJK chapter 263 before the series went on break once again.

Yuta’s Technique Runs Out

Yuta Okkotsu Was Unable To Control His Hollow Purple

Much to the surprise of the fans, Yuta was not shown firing off his Hollow Purple in JJK chapter 263. The chapter opened with the domain breaking and Sukuna having taken damage from the attack. Sukuna clearly mentioned that Yuta actually managed to pull off the Hollow Purple, but because he isn’t used to the technique, he couldn’t control it and use it well. Because of that, he was able to survive. Meanwhile, Yuta was still active in Gojo’s body and ready to go out to battle. Yuta teamed up with Todo and Yuji and the strategy here was simple. Todo would use his Boogie Woogie as many times as possible to swap and then Yuta would simply have to fire off as many Hollow Purples as he could to get rid of Sukuna. The strategy was perfect and could essentially have beaten Sukuna, unless there was more plot armor for him. However, it never came to that.

Before Yuta and the others even pulled off the strategy, he collapsed. This was simply down to the fact that the time limit had been reached and Yuta could not make use of his Copy technique anymore. He clearly mentioned that Rika was not haunting Gojo’s body, and because of that, he lost his Copy of the technique. Furthermore, Yuta had hoped that he would be able to utilize Kenjaku’s cursed technique indefinitely even if the Copy technique wore off. In JJK chapter 263, it was proven to be incorrect. Yuta cannot utilize this technique at all and now, he can’t even move. Todo was quick to realize that Yuta had reached his limit, and from here onwards, the rest of the battle was carried out by none other than Yuji and Todo.

This was a massive loss for the sorcerers, because they were very close to defeating Sukuna by themselves. However, this loss was mitigated in other ways. Yuji stepped up in this chapter and delivered an exciting show, not only taking on the King of Curses, but by showing grit and determination, once again.

Yuji’s Fierce Attack On Sukuna

Yuji Itadori Showed Amazing Strength And Skill Vs Sukuna

While Yuta lay down helplessly, Yuji and Todo fought a fierce battle. Sukuna was quick to land a black flash on Todo, but he was unfazed even after taking quite a lot of damage. Todo actually showcased his superior intellect in battle and decided to use the shards that were floating in the air after Yuta’s domain broke to swap around indefinitely. He could create multiple openings in the battle against Sukuna. As fans know already, Sukuna cannot keep up with the swap, and there is absolutely no way that he can adapt to it. This was highlighted once again in JJK chapter 263, where Todo caused all sorts of problems for the King of Curses. Yuji was being swapped around multiple times every second, and with that, he was able to land many blows on the King of Curses. Much to the surprise of the fans, Yuji pulled out a completely new technique against Sukuna. He was able to land Dismantle after Dismantle on his soul, and this was truly surprising for the fans.

So far, fans have not seen anyone utilize the ability to land attacks directly on the soul of an individual the way Yuji does. In fact, fans did not even consider the remote possibility of Yuji using the same logic with his other techniques. Essentially, Yuji was able to hit Sukuna’s soul with Dismantle.

To be more specific, he hit the barrier between the souls of Megumi and Sukuna and this allowed him to weaken his enemies’ control over his friend’s body. Sukuna was clearly frightened by this and he even threw up some fingers. He clearly acknowledged that if this kept up, he would lose control of Megumi’s body and, with that, the battle as well. However, he was able to consume them once again, and continue to fight.

The key to everything here was Todo. Without him, Yuji would not have been able to land all these blows on Sukuna, and the battle might have already been lost. Todo is the MVP of this last battle, and that cannot be denied. In fact, in JJK chapter 263, he once again proved that he was the unmatched MVP here as he did something absolutely sensational that no fan had expected.

Angel Arrives On The Battlefield

Sukuna tried to keep track of Todo’s swapping technique in JJK 263. Of course, it was impossible for him to know what he would swap with and how. However, at the very least, Sukuna could prepare himself for the swaps and hope that he would at least be able to reinforce himself. Even after he tried to break Toto’s vibraslap, he was not able to stop the swapping at all. Todo made use of his head to continue the swapping process, and it was absolutely sensational for the fans to witness him making one last grand swap. This time, he utilized a lot of his cursed energy, expanded the range of his technique, and lowered the number of swaps that he could do per second. As such, Todo was able to summon someone completely unexpected on the battlefield.

While Sukuna was focusing on the target in front of him, which was Yuji, he failed to realize that Todo could swap in anyone else on the battlefield as well. This person turned out to be none other than Hana, who was swapped with a shard of Yuta’s domain right above Sukuna’s head. From there onwards, she unleashed the Maximum Output Jacob’s Ladder on Sukuna once again, and it was absolutely glorious. Sukuna has no defense against this technique this time, and fans clearly saw it hit.

Now, the King of Curses is going to be cleansed, and fans are truly heading into the final segment of this fight. The merger might just be getting closer than ever before, and fans could see a defeated Sukuna rely on that power next time.

Jujutsu Kaisen is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of JJK, Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 264, is set to be July 28, 2024.
