What To Expect From One Piece Day ’24

Since its inaugural edition in 2022, One Piece Day has become a huge part of the calendar for One Piece’s fan base within Japan as well as worldwide, due to the sheer volume of important announcements and events it includes. Much like earlier editions, One Piece Day ’24 will feature initiatives that highlight every arm of the franchise: from the manga, anime, and movies, to games, music, and merchandise.

This year’s showcase consists of an Exhibition Area with an Open Stage, as well as a Live Area which will host performances by numerous artists during both days of the event. Separate tickets are required to enter the Live Area and Exhibition Area. Registration for ticket purchases is already open on the official One Piece Day website, and tickets will be allotted according to a lottery system. The event program will also incorporate a number of measures to keep visitors and live audiences engaged throughout the duration of One Piece Day ’24.

Exhibition Area And Open Stage

Hosting a Special Exhibition with huge balloon figures of the giants Dorry and Brogy, the Exhibition Area will have a character meet-and-greet alongside other Open Stage events. Events in the Exhibition Area will be broadcast through a free live stream for international viewers on the official One Piece YouTube channel. On the other hand, attendees at the in-person event will also receive special merchandise, ranging from tote bags to promo versions of the One Piece Card Game.

A key part of this year’s festivities is the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the One Piece anime, and a special initiative at the event will highlight this, by revealing the results of a fan poll to select the best scenes in One Piece. Titled “Anime ONE PIECE Best Scenes Poll – Top 100 Scenes Production Crews Find Memorable,” the project saw the production staff pick 100 iconic One Piece anime moments, and invite fans to reshare their favorite ones daily on X. The top 30 scenes from this selection process will be shown as part of this initiative on the first day of the event at the Open Stage.

Next, the program for the first day on the Open Stage will include the Tournament Finals for One Piece Bounty Rush The 2nd Extreme Treasure Festival, where the top 16 teams from the preliminaries will compete for the title of being the best in Japan. This will then be followed by a news segment hosted by Ryusei Ikuta, which may include crucial insights about upcoming One Piece releases and projects over the next year.

Kicking off the second day of festivities, the Open Stage will feature a special behind-the-scenes presentation of WIT Studio’s upcoming One Piece anime remake, titled The One Piece. It will be followed by a Special Stage event highlighting the UT x One Piece collaboration with Uniqlo’s graphic t-shirt brand, which will include a display featuring a commemorative collection based on the “Monkey D. Luffy Adventure Trail” that debuted in summer 2024, alongside all 163 t-shirts produced by UT x One Piece.

The subsequent part of the program will be another news segment, followed by a slot geared towards fans of the One Piece Card Game. This will be succeeded by the 6th One Piece Knowledge King Finals, which will lead into the closing section of the Exhibition Area event, in the form of a live recording of the radio broadcast “Mugiwara Space.” This recording will bring together the voices of all the Straw Hat Pirates as well as the seven Vegapunks introduced in One Piece’s Egghead Arc.

Live Area Performances

Aside from the events in the Exhibition Area, One Piece Day ’24 will also incorporate a series of live concerts in the Live Area. The lineup includes artists such as Hiroshi Kitadani and Maki Otsuki, who have performed opening and ending themes respectively for the One Piece anime over the years. Other artists include the Japanese group GRe4N BOYZ, virtual YouTuber Mori Calliope, Japanese singer Ado, as well as the boy band BE:FIRST.

Unlike the Exhibition Area events which will be streamed on YouTube, performances from the Live Area can only be viewed by purchasing tickets from the One Piece Day website, which will require users to create a Stagecrowd account. Aside from Japan, the concerts can be viewed in the following countries: United States, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Italy, and Spain.
