Chainsaw Man Fans Are SHOCKED by the Manga’s Latest Chapter

The following contains major spoilers for the Chainsaw Man Chapter 132 “Protection,” by Tatsuki Fujimoto, Amanda Haley and Sabrina Heep, now available in English via Viz Media.

Fans can read Chainsaw Man’s Chapter 132 as many times as they want, but no, it’s not a fan edit. It’s real; it’s canon. There is quite literally no other way to interpret what Denji said. Happy Pride Month, all.

Chainsaw Man returned with Chapter 132, “Protection,” after taking a week off, and Tatsuki Fujimoto returned with an absolute banger. Jam-packed with action, Chapter 132 moved at a breakneck pace following the Falling Devil’s defeat in the previous chapter. The chapter had numerous plot developments, including, shockingly, Yoshida kidnapping Denji to ” protect” him. In sheer desperation, Denji tried to negotiate his and Nayuta’s freedom by threatening Yoshida with death and, when that didn’t work, bribed him with a ‘service’ that BL fans are all too familiar with.

Chainsaw Man Fans Were Shook to Their Core

Upon reading the latest chapter, fans exploded with shock and disbelief. One of the things that has always appealed to readers is the unpredictability of Chainsaw Man. There’s just no telling what Fujimoto will think up for the next chapter. Judging by the fan reactions, nobody in a million years, could have guessed how this chapter would end. Since Yoshida’s appearance in Chainsaw Man Part 2, fans had jokingly tossed the theory that the Devil Hunter could have a thing for Denji as he showed absolutely no interest in Asa when she, as the War Devil, brought up the subject of dating to him and when Denji became a makeshift chair for Yoshida to sit on. As a result of Chapter 132, fans praised Fujimoto for “bringing yaoi devil yoshida back for pride month.”

Yoshida makes his first appearance in Chapter 55 of the manga as part of the squad assigned by Makima to protect Denji from the other international Devil Hunters who want to kill him. Yoshida has a contract with the Octopus Devil where he can summon the Devil’s tentacles to attack his enemies or protect himself from harm. His contract also allows him to use the Octopus Devil’s ink to blind his enemies. Yoshida disappeared after the “International Assassins” arc, reappearing as a recurring character in Part 2.

Fujimoto’s quirky personality has garnered his own small fandom. Although “Fujimoto, Chainsaw Man creator” isn’t on social media, at least on paper, he does make his presence known through his younger sister’s Twitter account. Fujimoto borrowed his sister’s account to live-tweet his reactions to the anime adaptation when it aired in October 2022 and has regularly used it to update his fans on what has been happening in his life. The last tweet @/nagayama_koharu wrote was on June 9 where they wrote how their mask smelled much better on that day.

Fans will have to wait until June 20 to read Chapter 133 of Chainsaw Man to see what kind of developments Denji and Yoshida’s relationship will undergo.
