My Hero Academia’s Eijiro Kirishima, aka Red Riot, comes to life in an intimidating and genderswapped cosplay.
Created by costume maker extraordinaire Brandywine Cosplay, the cosplay gives the high school student and up-and-coming hero’s battle outfit a feminine edge while still showcasing its spike-covered mask and gear-like shoulder coverings. The popular and talented cosplayer’s Reddit account also features images of equally-impressive recreations of My Hero Academia’s Mina Ashido/Pinky, Fullmetal Alchemist’s Winry Rockbell and Pokémon’s Misty and Cubone. They also have a crafted genderswapped version of the titular heroic ghost from Nickelodeon’s Danny Phantom.
About My Hero Academia’s Storyline
Kohei Horikoshi’s My Hero Academia manga first appeared in Shueisha’s Weekly Shōnen Jump in July 2014, and so far, the series has produced 37 volumes worth of content. Set in a future world where most individuals have a superpower called a Quirk, the narrative follows Izuku Midoriya, an earnest but emotional high school student born Quirkless, on his journey to become the greatest hero of all time.
The series recently passed the incredible milestone of 85 million copies sold across the globe, making Horikoshi’s story one of the best-selling manga of all time alongside Keisuke Itagaki’s Baki the Grappler and Yoshihiro Togashi’s Hunter x Hunter. Moreover, My Hero Academia has ranked high on the NYT Bestsellers list for graphic books multiple times, with Vol. 33 claiming third place on the list from March 2023, falling just behind Moon Rising by Tui T. Sutherland and Collaborations by Dav Pilkey.
